2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

Literally this. If the best CB we’ve got in the academy can’t possibly ever be better than Michael Keane then he may as well pack it in now. If he could be better than that extremely low bar then I’d rather see him in the squad than Keane. There’s also the entirety of world football we could have looked at for a player who could actually challenge the starting pair, could perhaps cover full back or defensive midfield, and god forbid might actually increase in value. But no, Michael Keane is the answer, doesn’t matter how much of a known failure he is, he is the answer.
If we have an academy player that has the potential to play for England, he should be getting games somewhere to continue his development. He shouldn't be stunted as a 4th choice centre half where he'll likely get only a few minutes playing time.

I actually think Keane has great value as an attacking player off the bench in do or die situations. He is one of the best to have up top when the game is on the line. I do think we need to be looking elsewhere for another CB or at least someone to compete with him if things go tits up. If he played a bit of a free role in a back 3 I think he makes more sense. His distribution is very good and he hits a mean diagonal. You do not want him as the last defender. I like Keane. I hope we are looking towards an upgrade soon.

Daft decision, just like Coleman. But at least he's not such a self-aggrandizer or brown noser as Coleman.
Coleman ?? Self... (ahem) aggrandizer ?? One of the most humble members currently at the club ? The same lad that is called a great man and a great human being to all and sundry who have ever met him ?? The same Coleman who visits children in hospital, To help keep the family's morale up ??

Joe Thomas reporting the club had a deal lined up for another centre back and Davey intervened to offer Keane a new deal, I never copped on he’d also worked with him before at Utd.

The other defender was likely coming in to be 4th choice. This is worded like Moyes turned down a cracking defender for keeping Keane. I dare say Moyes seen some over the hill journeyman they were looking at bringing in and decided to stick with Keane. I'm OK with Keane being backup. We can't be Man City with a squad full of starters
