Cycling thread

That was just toying today. He was riding to a set pace and keep Jonas at about 20 secs.
Decided to open up by another 10 in less than a km and didn't bother riding the last 500m.

Jonas said after it was the 2nd best ride of his career

'When the last rider rolls across the Tour de France finish line in Paris on 27 July it will mark more than the end of the world’s most prestigious bike race. Once Gary Imlach and team have wrapped up, it will conclude four decades of free-to-air Tour coverage for British TV viewers.'

How thoroughly depressing.

👏

How long did it take you to do the 12K?

I'd be more worried about descending if it were me.
My Garmin got stuck in the dreaded "working...." state for the first bit, but I think around 1h20m or there about. Not super fast. I'll blame the altitude for that :D

I took the descent really easy. I think the entire climb had 7 switchbacks, so with an 11% average you could have gone "really" quickly if you'd let the bike run, but the surface wasn't always great so it was easy does it.

Fast enough with those gradients though.

Was there any traffic at all? I think I'd have got off and walked the bike through the hair pins. I dread downhills on a bike.

It wasn't too bad. A few motorbikes and the odd car. As I was scoffing a strudel at the top, about 20 sports cars turned up in the car park. Glad I missed that. There's a toll booth around a third of the way up, so that probably keeps traffic down (it's free for bikes).

I'm aiming to do both sides of the Timmelsjoch tomorrow. I expect that to be a lot busier.
