2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Utterly ridiculous news story about "snubbing" Tottenham, that is one club that has been elevated way above it's station just because it got into the CL a few times. They've won F.A. They are not a bigger club than us, they've just finished above us a few times recently but who hasn't.

Utd and Spurs are in freefall, I hope they hit very hard times like us but they'll be allowed to spend their way back up the table.

Well done to JB for resigning and being happy about it. Guaranteed games help and being a fan favourite.

Paddy Boyland's newest article is saying that his salary has more than doubled (from £50k per week) and matches what he was being offered elsewhere. £120k p/w sounds plausible and would put him as one of our highest earners alongside Pickford.

Best piece of business we could have done. I’m hoping that in signing a 5 year deal assurances have been made to him regarding recruitment and ambition.

Hopefully some signs of the rebuild will emerge in the coming weeks.

Interesting thing for me is that weve only been linked with free transfers in defence & spending money in the forward positions.

Is that 'enough' to impress a centre back, or would they want to know a top DM or full back was coming in to strengthen their area of the pitch.

Who knows...

Genuinely incredible that if he finishes his contract with us and leaves on a free, the entire financial outlay over all that time will be about 40 million. This lad is pretty much the best case scenario of any incoming transfer.

The way he angles the attacker and pounces at the first big touch is amazing.
A proper defender.

I'm old-school. Give me a defender who defends over one known for his "use of the ball" or his ability going forward any day. I have always said Branthwaite is a superior defender to John Stones at the same age. The latter was, of course, renowned for going forward. Ironically, Branthwaite has actually outscored Stones during his time at Everton - 4 in 75 for Jarrad, 1 in 77 for Stones.
