Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don’t think Wesley would get a work permit for the UK, but he would get one for Italy. If he goes to Italy for a season, he will have a better chance of getting a uk work permit next season.

We have seen before that we get linked with players when they are valued around £25m to £30m, we don’t sign them and they do a year at a top level club and are the valued at £55m to £60m. I think this is an investment long term.
Can’t see any work permit issues. Much easier these days. The lad is a full Brazil international, plenty of young South American players get in with far less under their belts. One example being Alcaraz when he moved very young to Southampton.

If he was being signed for £25m or so, work permit wouldn't be an issue - things have changed a lot since Brexit and international caps are no longer a problem if you sign the player for enough money

I immediately thought it was rubbish but thinking about it I see potentially how it could work in terms of benefiting both clubs and I assume other multi team groups do similar things.

It does seem very weird and not quite right though. Sort of using the slush fund!

Still be surprised if it happens.
If and it's a big if this Wesley / Celik deal comes off as reported I'm sure that TFG will have looked carefully at the legalities.

However even if it passes that test , to me , the optics are terrible ( a club who until this financial year could hardly afford to sign a player now spend £30 million and then loan him out ) and it smells a bit off.

That said Chelsea have been finding loopholes in the rules ever since Boehly took charge ( is it an American thing?)

I know that my instinct is against this and I suspect would cause UEFA to look very very closely at us if we ever get close to European qualification.

He'd deffo get a fast-tracked one if it was for one of the Sky teams.

Bakayoko is a strange one, was talk of him going for a lot of money and he wanted champions league football, now the talk is he’s available quite cheap
Apparently not in for fellows. Seems that was the old regime. But we like Hutchinson
I think it would feel a bit like the ndiaye signing. He had a good 23/24 season but not as good the season after. We’d be buying potential if we could get him but I’d imagine there’s quite a few clubs interested

Just to be clear like, claiming that the new owners are amazing and that any deals which gets reported must be a dead clever idea and a good thing - even if you don’t actually have any idea as to why it would be - is every bit as daft and tiresome as people panicking every time they see things that don’t sound great.

Yep. Suddenly signing a player for £30 million and then immediately loaning him out (when we desperately need a player in his position) is absolutely normal for us.
