Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Once Barry comes on hopefully not long until we see a RB, another option for right sided attacker and a CM.

Think it’s looking clear that Moyes will play a central striker of Barry or Beto with 3 supporting him.

I’d expect early season to see us starting something like this, unless Tarks not ready then Jake in the middle with Branners and a new RB brought in.

…………………Barry / Beto……………..
NDiaye…………Alcaraz…………..New
…………….Gana…….Garner/New
Myko……….Branners….Tarks……OBrien.

McNeill and Armstrong adding a bit of strength in depth for those 3 attacking positions.

I think we need a right back irrespective of Tarkowski’s injury.

- sign Barry / Gueye / Keane
- new RB
- new winger
- new CM
- new keeper

Minimum requirement for me.

Oh yeah I agree with the RB situation.

Time to let Patterson go. We still need a new RB.

Just think Moyes will start with Jake early season if Tarks is fit.

I find it hard to believe that there is any truth to a rumour we will spend 30m to then loan a player to Roma. It makes no sense to me and I don't like it.
I immediately thought it was rubbish but thinking about it I see potentially how it could work in terms of benefiting both clubs and I assume other multi team groups do similar things.

It does seem very weird and not quite right though. Sort of using the slush fund!

Still be surprised if it happens.

I can't see any real benefits to the deal for Everton. Unless the player quite quickly becomes a top player, but that's not exactly a certainty.

Definitely need that right side sorted... happy with JOB at RB, but like to see him given the chance in the middle too.... although can never fault what Tarks has done for us over recent times.

But certainly a right attacking player and a new player in that middle to sit next to Gana. Garner should be squad depth only.

Bakayoko and fellows for me, 2 different types of players can cover both wide positions and if reports are true can get them both for combined 30ish million. Swerve Hutchinson who would cost 30 on his own.
Bakayoko is a strange one, was talk of him going for a lot of money and he wanted champions league football, now the talk is he’s available quite cheap
Apparently not in for fellows. Seems that was the old regime. But we like Hutchinson

It does amuse me, the calls for Friedkin to explain their financial dealings to their customers 🤣. Like every big business does that daily don't they! Friedkin will do what they do and we will see the benefit of it or we wont. We aren’t getting blow by blow explanations of every act of financial gymnastics folks, the sooner you get your heads around that the better for your mental wellbeing. The Friedkin group will not have bought us to do anything but generate revenue for them.

They can do that two ways primarily, by asset stripping us ( which effectively means selling off the ground and our better players) or they can develop us as an asset and sell us off for a profit when the market is at its most favourable.

Don't have any issues in principle of collaborating with Roma on deals, it's one of the things you'd expect from a multi-club situation.

I think what we'd all probably raise eyebrows about, however, would be the fact that we are being told we have limited PSR scope to spend this summer, so us buying a player for £30m and then loaning him out immediately wouldn't appear to be a great move on our part. Plus this is a player we've been tracking ourselves for months and plays in a position we desperately need to strengthen.

If we bought him, then loaned him to Roma and they then gave us Celik - it doesn't feel like we are coming out of that deal particularly well on the face of things.

I don’t think Wesley would get a work permit for the UK, but he would get one for Italy. If he goes to Italy for a season, he will have a better chance of getting a uk work permit next season.

We have seen before that we get linked with players when they are valued around £25m to £30m, we don’t sign them and they do a year at a top level club and are the valued at £55m to £60m. I think this is an investment long term.

Can we actually do that registration-wise?
I thought there were restrictions on the number of clubs a player can pass through in a season?

No it’s definitely a gamble if the plan is to turn a profit on him. I don’t think they’d be developing him for Everton either, I’m sure he’d be an asset to us now given our RB resources.

I’m guessing it’s likely to be a reciprocal arrangement in that Roma might return the favour to us at some point.

Still doubt it will happen.
