Confirmed Signing Thierno Barry

What if he’s worth £80 mill next season though mate.
We’d have missed out on £20m of additional profit?

Regardless, I certainly hope he’s worth the £34m or whatever we’re paying for him, as there’s seems to be a fair few people think we’re doing well paying that amount for a 22 year old unproven in the league.

The advantage we have being in the league at the top of the tree is that we can afford to delegate a lot of the hard work to clubs across the continent.

It's far easier to sign from 70 or 80 clubs across Europe on the rung below us, because that's 70 or 80 scouting teams looking at unearthing these kinds of players rather than just our own.

We also don't need to sign the misses, which we would've signed if we took all the risk.
… reads this and the then thinks about our record in the transfer market over the last decade

In my head i'm framing him as French DCL but with a better ceiling just to manage expectations for now.

I think he's probably quicker across the grass, but not as good holding the ball up (yet). Seems to have a similar good aerial ability.

I think if he reaches double figure across the season (all competitions) it'll be a success. I expect he'll blow hot and cold where Beto will take the load (I expect him to also reach double figures).

The key this summer is supplementing N'Diaye with a few more wingers that can push double figures in goals.

We need to take the load of this lad and just let him develop.

There is the outside chance though he could just hit the ground running and fly, think that would be an unreasonable expectation though.

watching the youtube's seems like he is more Beto than dCL which I think is a positive as the way the rest of the team creates attacks depends on the playing style of the striker. The contrasting styles between Beto and DCL left us caught between 2 stools too often. beto was only successful when he had a run in the side without DCL on the bench. Just my tuppence worth.

The admittedly minimal clips I’ve seen left me thinking the same re him being like Beto, whom I’m already not convinced Moyes fancies to lead the line with they type of football I suspect he wants to play.

The thing that stands out for me about Thierno is he's huge, absolute unit......but he's unusually athletic for someone his size, thats fairly unique and rare.
Yep, the Basel highlights showed him running down the wing a few times (he can actually run with the ball unlike DCL) and defenders were bouncing off him like prime Lukaku. He was also hitting the ball sweetly with both feet from outside the box.

£34m doesn't by you a proven striker in the premier league.
