Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Burnley have signed their 8th player today.

Meanwhile we are waiting on Michael Keane news.

Leave signings late = ineffective pre season = slow start to regular season.

Don’t f*** it up Everton, we’ve been here so many times.
Southampton brought in 17 players. Ipswich brought in 18. Leicester 10.

You may be new to the sport, but this happens every year with promoted teams.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Thierno Barry playing in that Fellaini / Doucoure role, as a second striker.

He's never played there before, but if you look at his highlights reel, he often comes a bit deeper to receive the ball in the same position that Fellaini and Cahill used to operate in.

The guy off the Villarreal fan forum said he can play in the 10 role too.

No idea how often he's played there etc but it's defo possible.

He also said Barry can either come deep or play off the last centre back, he's equally happy doing either and has pace so will be interesting to see how Moyes uses him.

Given Tarkowski's injury he might not be fourth choice and if we don't get a RB, with Coleman's history then he could be a starter before the season is half a dozen games old.

And thats why their cover.

I really dont know what you exspect the 4th choice cb of a team thats been battling relegation for the last 3 season to be?

Window is far from over so I don't why people are already making critical assumptions on what the squad is going to consist of at this point. If you're not satisfied with the recruitment at the end of the window, by all means gripe away but at least let things have a chance of developing first
I think that's fair but I would say, given the small size and relative weakness of the squad, that judging the squad at the start of the season, rather than the end of the window, would also be a useful milestone.

We probably don't want a player that isn't getting in to a team that has been battling relegation for the last three seasons, do we? If we didn't already have Michael Keane and Michael Keane was available on a free from, let's say, Leicester, would you want to sign him? Of course not.

Which is a sensible position to take. I'm not sure why the same argument isn't being applied to Michael Keane who also "just isn't very good".
It very much is though, despite you refusing to accept it. Nobody wants us to resign Michael Keane, surely you can understand that? Some people are able to read between the lines and think that it's either him or someone very similar to him and so in the grand scheme of things it's unlikely to make any difference, and some people think that we should be spending most of our budget on Maxime Esteve to stagnate on our bench, that's pretty much what it boils down to.
