He's a very good CB... I'd take him at Everton in a second!
However, he'd be expensive. He'd take up most of our transfer budget alone I suspect. For a 4th choice CB, our budget might be better served in the CF & RW positions.
But maybe not as much as we think. I'd rather what we have be spent on 1st teamers.
If you said go for him as a replacement for Tarks I'd agree all day. Not as 4th choice to sit on the bench.

Why is he not realistic? Burnley need to sell for PSR, every player there knows they’re probably returning to the championship next season or in the imminent future. Everton are a step up from Burnley and have the money to get him. Burnley may say no but if he wanted out he’d be gone. It’s absolutely a realistic replacement.
Branthwaite Tarkwoski OBrien Esteve. Could play any of those 2 together without worrying that a single high ball into the channel is going to turn into a penalty, red card, and 3 points dropped.

If we could get Esteve I’d run him with Branthwaite as first choice pairing.
That is a totally different argument and I would be on board with it.

Again - he isn't first choice regardless, so it isn't a priority..

I don't think we are able to spend as much as people think we are. Look at how tight Newcastle have to be and their owners are far and beyond ours in terms of financial power.

Keane is absolute crap and I don’t want to see him kick a ball for us ever again, but you were literally trying to argue that he wasn’t 4th choice?! There are 3 other centre backs that would be picked to play centre back before him.
Esteve is a left sided centre half, there couldn’t be a worse move for him than somewhere an elite young left sided centre half has just signed a 5 year deal. He would not entertain the move for one second.

1st choice, 4th choice, 100th choice. It’s irrelevant, he’s not good enough to be in the squad, he’s not good enough to get on the pitch for any amount of time. Get that through your thick skull.
Yeah, just looking at the facts - we tried to get Young, Doucoure and DCL to sign new contracts and are by all accounts only looking at free transfers to bring in at right back. The idea that we have a load of money available to sign someone in the position we're arguably strongest in seems more than a little fanciful to me.
