Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Anyone who doesn't think big Mick kegger as low maintenance all round good egg and 4th choice centre half isn't a good move needs to give their tena men a wringing out.

The alternative is find another player whose happy with same role, possibly non PL experience

OR

you spend decent money on bringing someone in whose gonna fight to be higher up the pecking order and push for example Jake O'Brien down to 4th choice (if you subscribe to the view tarks and jarred are first choice).

The latter scenario ain't gonna happen not this window.

And the first scenario is wasted effort just stick with what we have.

So a player like O'Brien who can play both CB and RB. Tarkowski's hammy goes twang again and all of a sudden that waste of a shirt is starting again.
Since we are playing hypothetical scenarios, what if we get rid of Keane and then sign a new CB and he does his cruciate and is out for a year?

Said previously re Keane that an extra year on similar terms wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Fills as a 3rd/4th choice gap at CB for another season and saves a bit of ££ in the process. All being well, he'll hardly be on the pitch (especially if we do end up bringing one or two new full backs in).

4th choice is a myth when there’s two CB positions. He’s one maybe two injuries suspensions away from playing in the first team. He’s effectively first or second reserve at best. That means he will be playing, and when Keane plays mistakes happen and points are lost.

If Branthwaite or Tarkwoski get a major injury early doors, Keane will be in and that is a major major problem for Everton. He’s absolutely conned yet another Everton manager into a deal by playing a couple of decent games at the end of the season when there was zero pressure and Moyes has absolutely fallen for it.

I’ve watched Keane torpedo manager after manager turning in absolute garbage under Silva Ancelotti Lampard and Dyche. I hoped that Dyche binning him was the end of his time here but even last season he managed to pop back up and turn out 4 of the worst performances I’ve ever seen at the start of the season to leave us in the mud for half a season. All of that to then stroll around at the end of the season in the sunshine paying attention because his contract was up. He’s an absolute plague on this team and I’ll confidently predict now that he’ll undermine any progress we look to make next season in some way.
100% correct. Managers do small things that self-sabotage their tenures. If you do enough of them, you sink. Moyes has laid the early groundwork here and he's going to need a lot of luck not to see this Keane decision blow up in his face. One significant injury and Michael Keane is in play, not as a "reserve" but as a walking time bomb.

I hope I'm wrong, but I can see this manager coming under inordinate pressure by November. If he does, mark my words: Michael Keane will be central to his difficulties, and he'll have nobody else but himself to blame.

And yet we have no idea on how fit Tarkowski can get and in what time frame. So if we don't sign a half decent RB then the liability on legs could well be a starter at Leeds.

We could get rid of Keane, sign a new CB and said new CB gets an injury leading to them being out for a year.

If we don't sign a half-decent RB, that has nothing to do with Keane. If we don't sign a starting RB, this summer will be a failure.

I understand he played there to get the best 11 on the pitch, but O'Brien should never be playing RB unless it's at the end of a match to close out a game. He's a CB, and given the way he played there, I'm not sure Tarkowski is getting his job back.

I'm honestly shocked by the number of people who can't or won't see this. Not only is he a walking disaster waiting to happen but he makes everyone playing around him a bag of nerves.
