Campbell has signed a new contract until June '27...
….having watched him a fair bit for Ross County, I have to say I’m a little surprised. Maybe he’s seen as possible LB cover, unless he goes on another loan.

I'm sure he'd like to go higher, just depends if the interest is there.16th last season, downgrade on Blackpool.
Think he needs to be looking at the best teams in that division if not higher to carry on his progression
Can see Moyes possibly following the Lescott treatment, as he’s loves young centre halves learning their craft at full back. It’s either a loan or he feels he can mould him and use as cover at left back if required. You’ve mentioned a few times now Eggs that he hasn’t really pulled up any trees at Ross County. I suppose the 1st couple of friendlies will tell us whether Moyes has plans for him to be left back cover.….having watched him a fair bit for Ross County, I have to say I’m a little surprised. Maybe it's also part of looking to get a return on players. Give them loans to hopefully boost their chances of making it as a pro even if not at Everton. If we can sell following another loan then that would be worth the contract. If he does however massively improve over the the next year then the option is there to provide an option at left back.….he started off ok but his form seemed to dip towards the end of the season. Watching him, he’s more LB than conventional CB, decent size and athleticism. With the contract mess Moyes has inherited Campbell might be seen as making up squad numbers.

Its why i dont really see benefits in loans like these. Can see Moyes possibly following the Lescott treatment, as he’s loves young centre halves learning their craft at full back. Campbell has already been in the academy for a number of years, he is at the stage now where he needs to play real football if he is to progress further. Its why i dont really see benefits in loans like these.
Apart from a goalkeeper loans below the top 2 or 3 teams in league 2 are basically pointless
The younger lads would be better training every day at a higher standard than being coached by the likes of Phil Parkinson

The loan in Scotland playing adult football with a club struggling against relegation but will give him invaluable experience.
He was involved in 34 games which is huge for a young player and it is to be expected that he would tire and there would be dips in his performances as there are with all young players.
We will see over the next few weeks if he goes out on loan again and to what level of club this time or if the manager wants him around the first team squad... at least in pre season.
Well Campbell is 21 next month , what I saw at Ross County was more than just a dip in form , it was almost a lack of interest at times near the end, not tracking back etc when around him players with less potential than him were working their socks off for their team and I guess their own future. He reminded me of Luke Garbutt back in the day when we gave him a new contract and sent him out on loan and he looked disinterested. I was seriously disappointed in him. I think we all recognise that Armstrong is way above any of our current youngsters, one aspect that puts him there is his attitude, and showing his willingness to fight for the cause in a relegation battle, I didn’t see that at all with Campbell. I can’t see him as a serious option in the first team PL squad this current season. For me he’s League 1/2 standard , which means a fee of around £500k unless he improves substantially.Campbell has already been in the academy for a number of years, he is at the stage now where he needs to play real football if he is to progress further.

They get given squad numbers when they play in the EFL (Papa John's, Bristol street motors etc) trophy. Everton have never been great at keeping the website up to date so some have them correctly labelled, some don't. I wouldn't read anything into it though. Is there any significance to certain U21 players having squad numbers on the site? Is it an administrative thing, like those with numbers have them because they're in line (for the time being) to fill out the available squad for preseason friendlies?
Thanks. I'm reading into everything in the absence of news. They get given squad numbers when they play in the EFL (Papa John's, Bristol street motors etc) trophy.
