Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Gana effectively being a free agent right now is not great. Yes he's 35 or whatever. But he'll be very expensive to replace and it's a job we could do with deferring till next summer.

This HAS to be the first announcement BEFORE any 'new' signings then it's all gravy and relax.
My increasing concern is if we can't sort out contracts for our own players until beyond the twelfth hour, how are we going to sort new deals for new players promptly and effectively.......

I really want us to be ready to hit the ground running mid August, not scrabbling around on deadline day, then players still not fit and/or embedded in the team until late Sept when we have dropped so many points as usual.

4-5 quality players in over the next two weeks or I'll be concerned......

It could well down to negotiation tactics. There's a rumour one of our new crew fancies themselves as a bit as hard knock around the negotiating table.

Gotta be aware of the circumstances and play hard ball/concede as necessary.

In gana's case Id say despite his age he holds the cards as it's a position we don't want to have to recruit for, so as long as they're not unreasonable conditions you'd hope we just offer him what he wants.

My suspicion is he wants a straight 2 years and we offered him 1 + option of 1, so we either offer him a kicker to sweeten the deal, or just give him the two. Personally I'd do the latter.

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Neal Maupay, Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin no longer play for Everton. What a day.

Can't wait to sign the next group of clowns. It'll be like when they revamp one of those American shows with a mostly new cast, but the odd old one left in there for continuity's sake

If I’m the players agent you can guarantee I’m going to push negotiations to the most uncomfortable position for the club that I can, it’s well documented how many players we need. The agents know this, take Keane for instance any other year he would be binned but it makes sense for the club to keep him for 1 more year. This puts him in a strong position to negotiate the best deal possible for himself.
