New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

That legends game post Roma match. Have they thought that out?

I cant see too many people extending their day to watch a match between two teams of ex players having just seen a first team game...and having been at the stadium for at least an hour before hand Ild imagine for most.

Not many will want to hang around for that. It'd take time to transition from one game to the next (what, 20 minutes / 30 minutes) and fans will be looking at others drifting off and not want to be left hanging about having just seen the main event. Maybe the away fans who'd have travelled will be up for it, and they're a captive audience, but I doubt too many Evertonians will be.

There's an air of desperation about that plan that speaks volumes about the club and local state's concerns regarding egress from the new stadium.

If I see the team sheet and I like it I'll stay, at least until half time. Chances are Dave the Legends team will probably be better than the first team !

I agree. I think that it is essential to test all aspects fully.
I think the legends game should be a separate test event and not something used to artificially spread out post match dispersal. Maybe it should even be a freebie for all season ticket holders and members to fill the place and test everything, and/or give more match-going fans the chance to get a feel for the whole new experience. Perhaps an evening match, as travel habits can be quite different for late games.

It should be an occasion of celebration of past players. Instead it has the feel about of 'trickery': "How on earth do we stop the post match chaos? I know, let's try and keep 30% of the punters in by tacking on a legends game to avoid a snarl up and negative publicity".

It's typical of the way Everton have operated in the last few decades. Kick any problem down the road until another day or reckoning.

I like the idea of a legends game. But if I'd just watched a first team game I'd be reluctant to hang about much longer after.

They better have them walking out on the pitch about 5 minutes after the Everton v Roma first team game. It's a long day if you get down there an hour before the game then any delay to the legends game of say 20/30 minutes has you out of the stadium well after 7pm. Five hours+ for a fanbase - many of whom are used to a walk up at 2.45pm and away before 5pm - is a big ask.

I feel the same way. Several issues with it:

We park with a disabled badge, we only have 3 hours max. So what are we meant to do?
It's still not testing a crowd turning up and leaving together.
It could've been 2 dates, brought in more money and been a fun day for fans, instead, many will want to stay, but can't because of time etc.

I thought I read that Blue Badge holders could park anywhere in the new zones announced in March but just 3 hours on a yellow line?

Its a shame, it should have been the grand opening of the stadium, bring out the ex plaers and legends carrying the trophies they have won.

Give a bit of history and sparkle to the new gaff.

Can’t wait myself. Will be there early doors to check out the whole outside of my new place of worship. I’ll then go inside, few beers, maybe some salt & pepper chicken, check out the view from the south stand concourse over the city.
After soaking all that in, I’ll make my way to my new seat, sitting with my lad for the 1st time, take in the atmosphere, marvel at the new screens and sound system. Watch the game, half time refreshments. Post match bevy, back to my seat for the legends game, may watch it all, probably won’t. Then more post match beverages along Regent Road before heading back to town and then making my way home…

Don't forget the post-match voiceover video replete with dulcet tones and cardiovascular sound-effects!
