Crystal Palace and the Europa League

You’re not wrong remember when one had an actual administrator appointed by their major lender , the lender claiming the club were in administration and yet some how weren’t considered in administration?

To this day I still can’t believe it

Haha, yeah. They were sold for the value of their debt by the debt holder, facilitated by an individual primarily employed by the debt holder who was placed in a position of power within the debtors business. But, nobody reported it as administration during the court case that was stopped a few hours before its conclusion, so it can't have been.

Honestly it’s absolute mad that it’s just never addressed and nobody seems to know anything about it .

It’s administration clear as day , along with Chelsea financial chicanery , man u’s spiralling debts and the kicking of city’s charges can a perfect illustration of the EPL.

The rest of the league need to group together to protest tbh, instead of trying to follow suit.

Complete shenanagins at UEFA. Decision on Palace being admitted being to the Europa League which was delayed last Friday and expected on Monday (today) is now delayed again. The reason given is that UEFA are waiting to see if Lyon's appeal against relegation from Ligue 1 is successful. If it is not, they, (Lyon) have apparently agreed to withdraw from the Europa League which will clear the way for Palace. The huge advantage here is for UEFA - they have no decision to make and therefore it cannot be appealed against. Any appeal would expose the incompetence and inconsistencies applied to previous cases of multi club ownership and the complete inadequacy of the current rules to meet any future clearly and fairly.

And the fact that the on going uncertainty continues to disrupt Palace's preparations for the new season is only advantageous to the commercial narrative. If they actually have to let them enter, with a bit of luck they'll get knocked out early so they won't need to keep explaining to the far Eastern telly audience that it is not Barcelona they are watching in the Europa league ...

I’m not sure anyone would mistake us for Barcelona!

To be fair this is all palace and Textors fault. You had a clear deadline to transfer shares and you didn't. Forest did it in time.

UEFA haven't got any blame in this. But they are telling you that if Lyon win their appeal then you are not in the comp

No mate. UEFA have to rule whether Textor has/had significant control or influence over both Palace and Lyon on March 1. It is clear that he did at Lyon and it is clear that he did not at Palace. Only if he did at Palace would there have been any need to put his shares into a blind trust. At that time he was trying to sell his investment in Palace in order to help re finance Lyon who by that time had already been provisionally relegated but given a window to avoid confirmation of that relegation in order to refinance. Selling his shares in Palace would have made a dent in Lyon’s massive debt. If his shares were in a blind trust he would not have been able to sell them.
“UEFA haven’t got any blame in this”? Seriously mate? You think that their rules on multi club ownership are transparent and consistently applied? You think that putting shares into a blind trust isn’t the most ridiculous get out? If Forest need money while their owners shares are in a blind trust where on earth do they get it? Their owner of course, so his control and influence is maintained, even while his shares are in the magic blind trust.
So “to be fair” I’ve probably spent a bit more time on this than you and I hope that I’ve managed to briefly illustrate that Palace (and most of Football) believe Palace are not in breach of the rules through Textors former investment and the “blind trust” argument fails before it begins because it is not fit for UEFA’s designed purpose.

how did he not have significant influence? Don't palace have a board and they all get a vote? Textor gets a vote. That's significant influence in my book.

Selling them or blind trust is the same for UEFA. He gives up his influence. It was an easy fox to do. You didn't do it, i suspect because you didn't seriously expect to win it.

Your club is to blame. Other clubs got their house in order. You simply didn't

One last point; UEFA have not told Palace (or anyone else) "that if Lyon win their appeal then you are not in the comp"
They have said that if Lyon are relegated (lose their appeal) they have agreed to relinquish their place in the Europa League (suspicious from blameless UEFA - you would think a Europa League place would bring some desperately needed money in) but that should they be successful in their appeal UEFA will make a ruling on whether Palace have (in their opinion and in accordance with their rules) breached MCO rules through Textor's former investment despite Crystal Palace not now, or ever being in multi club ownership.
UEFA, because they know that their rules are inadequate, inconsistently applied and are open to scrutiny are desperate to avoid making a ruling which would open them up to appeal from either side. For instance, the claim that Forest put their shares in a blind trust by March 1 is not correct. It now appears that Forest may have noted their intention to place their owners shares in a blind trust by March 1 but UEFA did not receive confirmation that it had been completed until mid April, in breach of their rules. Not an issue for "blameless" UEFA.

Forest and olympiakos are not in the same comp anyway so it doesn't matter. That's literally not an issue for UEFA they have no decision to make.

Take ownership of it, your club have messed up. Not just with Lyon but with Brondby too.

They might not have told you that.... but they basically have, haven't they?

Oh, so not UEFA rules now but what it says in your book is the defining factor. Perhaps you could post up the details of your book to allow for adequate scrutiny. You have not read the Board constitution of CPFC and so you are unable to confirm how the Board works. You are merely making assumptions.
Sale and putting shares in a blind trust is not the same thing at all, in one ownership is retained and in the other it is not. UEFA have separate rules for each. The rules, such as they are, which you seem to be on barely nodding acquaintance with, were designed to cover clubs in multiple ownership. Palace are not in multiple ownership. An owner of an MCO Group was an investor in Palace. He had no operational role and could only express opinions. His lack of influence was a factor in him deciding to sell his shares - he said so himself, months ago, before any of this arose.
Frankly mate, the rules, such as they are, are neither fit for purpose, nor what you want them to be.
