Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Yes thats what i thought, but a couple of people have said hes also played on the right.

Either way, he's exciting.
He can, but the same way McNeil can play on the right too, for example. That's just not his main position, so I don't think he should be considered as the starting option there.

I don't get this hate towards buybacks. Guess we also shouldn't loan anyone, ever then.

Get two years of good service of a player and then make a profit. If we buy a player who turns out to be really good that's more or less what we probably get out of him without a buyback clause as well.

Buy backs aren't great at all. With a loan, you know what you're getting. With a buy back clause the club holding that right can literally just decide at any moment to come and take him back. No prior warning, no negotiating, 10 minutes before deadline if they so wish, assuming the player in question will agree of course.

4 years to the day that the FSW was made our manager. It’s almost hard to believe it happened looking back, christ we’ve been a mess haven’t we.

Really hoping the next month gives us all cause for optimism, and a chance to finally see some long term sustainable growth.

A competent window would go a long way to making that happen 🤞

They should be scrapped without doubt.

He has long been linked with a move over there tbf, they can offer Euro football.
Not sure Champions League or Europa League is much of a pull these days. You'll get more big matches against top opposition in Premier League than Champions League these days.

What does matter is style of play. McAtee is a good fit for Bundesliga that is end to end and every team wants to press high. That's the football he grew up with. That's the football he know.

He has tried to play for a lesser English team that is defensive minded, and it was a poor fit. He knows how his mate Tommy Doyle got his career ruined by signing for a team such as Wolves.

If he goes to Germany and does well, many of the top English teams will look at him in a year or two. None of them will look at him after playing a year or two for a team managed by Moyes. That's the unfortunate truth.

If Everton were managed by a Carsley or another manager that plays the football McAtee grew up with, knows and loves, he'd be interested. For him to even consider a club such as Everton now he'll need to be poorly advised.

You could agree that the clause can’t be activated in the last week of a transfer window.

Maybe so. The point remains though. Barca decided to take Gerry back just to move him on. An injury crisis, the hint of interest from other clubs, or even filling the homegrown quota could easily see a last 'second' decision made to come in and take the player back.

The squad is so thin, I cant see a world where we sell Garner and Iroegbunam. If we accept we will play 451 (433) with 2 holding midfielders and 1 attacking in the middle, we need Gana plus 3 players to make up the starting pair of holding players and the backup 2 to cover injuries and suspensions. We should keep Garner and Iroegbunam as the backups and sign 1 new first team player to play alongside Gana.

Its a bit concerning that Gana has not announced that he is staying and extending his contract, if he doesnt then we need 2 new first team central midfielders.

I can see us selling Patterson, if we sign 1 new RB and 1 new LB. Given that we have first choice LB in Myko and O'Brien is first choice RB, we are probably going to get Tete on a free and we have Coleman as 3rd choice, so we will be overloaded in that area really. But if we dont get another LB then I can see Patterson staying. Ideally if Keane is leaving as the 4th choice CB, then we sign a player who can play LB or CB, so they cover the 2 positions
Patterson should really be getting offered to (forced on) Southampton considering KW-P has left them.
