Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Really hoping there is going to be activity this week...... Players back next week into training right?

Looking at the squad list on the official site (will change dramatically after today, we are left with:

GK (1) - Pickford
DF (6) - Patterson, Tarks, O'Brien, Myko, Coleman, Branthwaite
MF (4) - Alcaraz, Garner, Iroegbunam, Armstrong
F (4) - McNeil, Ndiaye, Beto, Chermiti

Awaiting the outcomes for Gana and Keane and we have 2 keepers to come back from loan.

But really we are looking at a squad here of 15-17 players and somewhat very light. Not sure what is coming through the youth ranks.

However, we are needing at least 5-6 players in with majority of these being starters who are going to take us forward!

All above must be starters with 2 squad players at least to come in.

I just don’t think City are in a strong position on this.

He is off this summer, everyone knows that. City would be stupid not to cash in now.

With 12 months left on his contract, it’s completely up to McAtee regarding who he signs for. There’s no need for him to be pushed into a move that he doesn’t really fancy with just 12 months left on his contract.

Generally, a player would inform the club he wants to sign for whichever club, and they would proceed to do the deal.

If McAtee wants to sign for Everton, but we won’t entertain a buy back clause, what are city going to do? Lose him for nothing next summer?

I would have absolutely no time for City’s antics, they are literally dredging the northwest, and Merseyside in particular, of its talent.
I see what you mean and it’s frustrating that clubs are cherry picking the talent.

However, we have no divine right to a player because they were born in L4 or anywhere else in the city. Every player makes their own decision based on what they feel is best for them.

Additionally, I think that instead of blaming City for doing it, we should look at the failings of our own club in not having systems in place to pick up these prospects for ourselves.

Chermiti and arguably Armstrong should be out in loan next year for experience.
Neither has shown anything at this level yet.

15 contracted players doesn't sound a lot as it is, but when you factor in that 3 of them (Armstrong, Chermiti, and Iroegbunam) only have 8 PL starts between them, Coleman has only managed 10 starts in the last 2 1/2 years, and Patterson ended the season as our 4th choice right back, it really highlights just how much we need to do. There's no shying away from it, we need to start getting people through the door pretty quickly or we're going to waste half our pre-season giving games to people who we have no intention of ever seeing the pitch in the Premier League.
