He came for buttons and scored some very important goals, never doubted his attitude but his body couldn't handle the Prem, best for everyone he moves on and good luck to him, he became a symbol of the struggles of the last few years and that can't be a good thing for him and we need to put those years behind us too. The Palace goal and subsequent scenes will live in my memory forever.

Good luck to him. I really rated him when he first broke through, and saw something of the great Graeme Sharp in him. While he never scaled anything like those heights, he did provide a Sharp-like cameo with the most important goal he ever scored against Crystal Palace.

That's what I will remember him for. I am pleased this natural end won't be dragged out into acrimony and recrimination. The reality is the club needs new blood to start a new era, and the player needs a new start to give himself a chance to end his career on a high.

Good luck, DCL. Thanks for the memories.

Good player for us, unfortunately the club was a mad house during the most important years of his career. Lampard relying on him while he wasn't fit made his injuries worse, and Dyche playing him isolated up front. He'd be a good player for any other club, hope it's abroad so he doesn't score against us.
