To be honest I don't see many put him on a pedestal, he gets a lot of respect rather than adulation. Players/coaches/opponents etc.

He was a very good player until he broke his leg. He also seems like a good person.
He was indeed a good player. As I said, to me he represents an era - a bad one. To some extent, that's actually a credit to him in that his longevity made him synonymous with that time. I just want to see us move on now. Seamus hanging around doesn't preclude that. But we do need new players and new, higher standards, where winning is the currency of icons.
