2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Any teams most valuable financial asset will always be subject to transfer noise & demand regardless of thier current contact conditions. Branthwaite signing a new contract is big in so many ways for us. Keeps the asset, protects the strong centre back partnerships. Shows players both internally & externally that we mean business so current players like Gana could be more inclined to stay plus other players we have approached to join will already have an idea of what they are joining especially for a new right back.

Probably helps Tarkowski from a personal level too as I doubt he wants to start all over again with a new younger centre back at his age & current injury. I think him, Branthwaite & O'brien like working together & like they are all monsters. Also think Tarkowski takes a lot of pride in helping both thier development.

Let's hope he does actually sign. He deserves it.

It could go the other way and teams use Quansah as the benchmark for young English defenders, especially since he was part of their title winning squad and is now playing for England.

Jarrod has neither of them things in his favour. We all know he’s better the player, but these will be arguments when it comes to negotiations
He did his best to lose it for them tbf

I know the window is young and this may come across as hyperbole, but if we manage to get Jarrad to sign on terms that suit both parties long term, you're going to struggle to find a better piece of business this summer across all clubs in the league. I've come to that conclusion when weighing up what he offers us on the pitch. Just look at what's likely to happen to Brentford if they can't do the same with Mbeumo, Bournemouth have lost half their defence, Burnley have lost one of their solid CBs, etc.
It’s not hyperbole mate, I think this could be the most important piece of business we do this summer.

Would be tremendous if he's still with us next season.

I thought they'd look to sell him if a £70/80m type bid come in, just to improve bandwidth on who we could bring in - but great to hear keep him and still bring in the players we need.
I had almost resigned myself to accepting that he would be gone. This is brilliant news and it could well be our most influential signing.
