Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Well yesterday was a barrel of laughs. When I was having the grab rails and stair handrails fitted for kay, the lady from the county council looked at her bed and said it was against the rules to have a side rail on her bed. The side rail is exactly the same as provided on all hospital beds, lifting up and locking into position, a great piece of kit. Arguing was pointless as ‘rules are rules’ so I removed it but took the precaution of putting an armchair with its back against the bed. Kay then took to moving the armchair while lying in bed. Anyway yesterday, when she was ready for a second change, I went into her bedroom to find her lying on the floor on all fours and freezing cold. She didn’t appear hurt but it frightened the life out of me. Anyway the bed rail went back on immediately and she slept well…..
It sounds like nonsense Pete, and you are obviously now doing the sensible thing. If i understand this right, you have made a sensible adjustment in your own home which doesn’t affect the H&S of council employees so nothing to do with them. I worked in H&S for over 30 years in chemicals, pharmaceuticals and the offshore oil industry, keeping people safe was at times a difficult but interesting challenge. I despair these days at the inability to balance risk with common sense.

A full time job for sure .

Morning all, a lovely bright day here after a rainy start. One thing about living here is I don’t think our water butt has ever been empty @Gwladysover. Mr P is down to one crutch and no dressing on his knee so we are off to Tesco later (rock n roll life style).
I see the new home kit is out, I like it but I fear those horizontal stripes won’t be very forgiving for the non athletic form.
Hope everyone has a lovely Thursday.
We have three large water butts, I think the only time all three are full is in the Winter.
Good to hear Garry is getting out and about again - today Tesco, tomorrow the World!
Not sure about the new home shirt, those stripes remind me of retinal migraines.

You did the right thing if it works for you and you’re fine with it. Unfortunately having been in that situation if she had not pointed it out to you and something had happened to Kay I imagine as crazy as it sounds she would have been at fault. Sadly you have to cover yourself these days in those type of roles as there is always a threat of litigation and people are happy to go down that route and look for someone to blame. It’s not worth risking a career for.

I’m right in the middle of the most busy 2 week period I’ve had for years , and am now doing something I haven’t done for quite a while- I’m joining @Barnfred 55 in G&T Thursday, I need it ! Aatta Orkney gin .
Cheers folks 🙂

Is this a quiz? Am I supposed to guess the brand from the back of the bottle?😀

Anyway enjoy mate. I'm sure it's fully deserved. I'm seeing Cal's mates for lunch tomorrow so it'll be a noon G&T Friday for me.

Haha, definitely a quiz. Clue : the answer is in the original post , the back of the bottle is better than the front. ! And if you expand the image you can see its name, where it’s distilled and bottled.

Good morning all on the dismal day here ,I hope all are well and have a fine day today . Great to hear Garry is soon to be gallopping @Val P, Nice to see Pete-the fridge -blue is back on track ,let's hope @blueloon has recovered from the alchoholic poisoning induced by stron gin ,one to savour methinks .
@Barnfred 55 will be happy to see the fevertree .
Have a great day all COYB

I have to share the good news ,you all know about my son ,ADHD Asberger's and PTSD ,well ,he has been doing this game for a company who will launch a platform similar to Google Chrome ( If I have it correctly !)
Now he has been called to an interview with some guys from Meta who is the parent company of Facebook ,firstly by the guy who "invented " the thumbs up ,who is now a wealthy man and an integral part of that side and another in the artistic division .They showed him some new idea that he is sworn to secrecy over as they might want him to design a program for it .I wish I knew more !
This year he has turned the corner and is looking and feeling much better ,he actually went to a BBQ last weekend with a close friend from childhood who is aware of the whole situation and sort of looks out for him .There is talk of him going to San Francisco if it all works out ,I better renew my passport ,which might be a problem as it has expired and they frown on that ,the other option is to get Finnish citizenship and a Finnish passport ,despite all my criticism of the UK I still feel that it is my nationality and I am reluctant to change this late in life ,who knows what the pension people would say or do .
They gave him a pair of these as a gift :-
What a world we live in !

That’s great news, there’s no doubt that at times we take more pleasure from the achievements of our kids and grandkids than we do of our own.
