Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

RS have chalked up 170 mill on signings. That's what will make the fawning sickening Red Echo even more hateful. Do I sound jealous??🤨

While we’re just emerging from the cataclysmic Moshiri and Kenwright era which very well could have seen the end of us, RS have nothing but genuine good times and it makes me ill , the karma that that club continues to evade sickens me

Wait, Newcastle would want £12m for Sean Longstaff? I thought he was a free!
If he was on a free and people were turning their nose up at him I would have to laugh at their embarrassing lack of understanding of where we are as a club. For Ā£12m he’d be a decent signing, on a free it should be something we were absolutely all over.

Lining Newcastle's pockets and helping them PSR wise - I believe Longstaff would represent pure profit in this regard - is not something I'd enjoy us doing. Especially in a window we need so many bodies in with a supposedly fixed budget. On a free, I wouldn't stick my nose up.

If players improve us then worrying about what the selling team might do with the money is properly shameful to be honest. Especially someone like Newcastle. People talk about Kenwright ruining Everton but stuff like this just makes me think it’s social media and our fans being so concerned that someone somewhere might laugh at them they’d rather we don’t improve our team lest someone say it’s embarrassing that we signed their reject. Grow up ffs.

Did you just admit that he might be considered a reject, though? No worries!

That’s the question though, isn’t it? Is he any better than Garner? I don’t think he is. And if that’s the case then we should be looking elsewhere. Squad filler? Sure. But we need so much that 12mil is meaningful and shouldn’t be spent on someone who doesn’t improve the first 11.

Same feel like it was something under 10 id be happy with it, i want us to bring in two cm this window. I am curious what he does with tim and armstrong this pre season if wants them in the swuad or send them out on loan

That’s a totally different question though. Should we sign someone crap? No, obviously not. Should we not sign someone good just because it means giving money to a side we don’t like (even if they’d get it from somewhere else anyway?) again, obviously not. It’s not a hugely difficult equation really.

Garners numbers were better in most areas last season, did have a bit more game time though. Both are just 'engine' players who keep things ticking over in the middle. For me any CM signing needs to be a similar type but just have a little bit extra in terms of distribution going forwards.
