Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Afternoon all, I’m chuffed to bits right now because I have just driven my car for the first time since I broke my arm which is 6 weeks. It felt so great - like putting an old pair of slippers on.
Also on Friday I saw a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden! I’ve only ever seen them in Greece before (although I know they are all over the Mediterranean). I actually hate moths, they give me the creeps, but it was fascinating to watch it dance around the flowers.
Glad to hear @Barnfred 55 is having a great time, and I bet your dog looks cute after its hair do @peteblue .
Have a lovely Sunday 💙

When I did my arm I wasn’t allowed to drive for well over three months. Had a complete olecranon fracture so needed it all bolted together. Was meant to get the metal took out in summer 2020 but sommat was going on which stopped me going anywhere near a hospital.

That horrible muggy weather seems like it is here to stay today- rain but very warm. This is our future I guess with climate change. Speaking of which, a strange court decision yesterday has left me pondering. The A5 road is a notorious one for fatalities and one which I am so careful on (not too often thank goodness). There has been a campaign to upgrade it but it faced objections from some un-named people. The public never really understood why but it was all revealed yesterday- carbon emissions! Apparently the work to make the road safer would breach local Govt environmental targets. There is something really not right about that reasoning.
The A96 runs between Aberdeen and Inverness , 105 miles with maybe 15 miles at the start and 1/2 mile at end are dual carriageway. Lorry’s and farm tractors etc all use it, and there are long stretches where overtaking is not possible . Dualling the road has been planned for 30 odd years . All this was stopped , yet again, four years ago by the Greens when they went into coalition with the SNP. I live about half way between , travel in both directions and am fortunate I’m never in a rush . I live in a county , Moray , which doesn’t have a single mile of dual carriageway. 🤷‍♂️

Good morning all on this wet one ,we are due a few more , I hope all are well and had a good night . Five days left in the month and then hopefully fireworks ,well no I suppose not but as with prunes and custard we can hope for a little more movement ! Not much happening but it would be nice to hear from @Pilks and his "discussion " with the CAB .Have a great day all COYB

Morning all, after a couple of days respite the weather is warming up again. Hardly any rain means the water butts are empty and we have had to resort to the hosepipe, going on a water meter in the driest area of the country was probably not the best decision we’ve ever made.
I’m off for a blood test later - have a good day, all.💙

Morning all, a lovely bright day here after a rainy start. One thing about living here is I don’t think our water butt has ever been empty @Gwladysover. Mr P is down to one crutch and no dressing on his knee so we are off to Tesco later (rock n roll life style).
I see the new home kit is out, I like it but I fear those horizontal stripes won’t be very forgiving for the non athletic form.
Hope everyone has a lovely Thursday.

Good morning all on this cloudy day here ,off to the shops is the highlight of the day .I hope all are well and had a good night followed by a wonderful day .
The runour mills are going at full tilt but the Echo still manages to churn out the same articles rewritten time and again.
Have a great day all COYB .
The Echo is like the time posters at bus stops — absolutely useless!

Hello everybody. Its warm here but we've had lots of rain in the last couple of days. I like the new kit @Val P but £80 is a lot of money. I dont think I spent that much on my dress for Chris and Sophie's wedding 🤣! I hope the blood test goes well @Gwladysover . This morning Ive been to aqua aerobics, I didn't get to yoga the other day but I'm going tomorrow morning. Mr F and I are off to Nottingham for the weekend tomorrow- it's supposed to reach 30° there.
Have a good day all x

Well yesterday was a barrel of laughs. When I was having the grab rails and stair handrails fitted for kay, the lady from the county council looked at her bed and said it was against the rules to have a side rail on her bed. The side rail is exactly the same as provided on all hospital beds, lifting up and locking into position, a great piece of kit. Arguing was pointless as ‘rules are rules’ so I removed it but took the precaution of putting an armchair with its back against the bed. Kay then took to moving the armchair while lying in bed. Anyway yesterday, when she was ready for a second change, I went into her bedroom to find her lying on the floor on all fours and freezing cold. She didn’t appear hurt but it frightened the life out of me. Anyway the bed rail went back on immediately and she slept well…..
