Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

£35m. Still, shows that we could be willing to spend that kind of money
Not really.

According to Spanish law all football contracts must have a release clause. Release clauses are usually set unrealistically high. When Barry signed for Villareal last summer his release clause was set to €40 million. It was way over his market value then. It is way over his market value now.

When transfer articles about Spain based players are written release clauses are usually mentioned. Because that is the price that means Villareal must accept. Even with a release clause of €40 million Villareal can still accept a bid for €25 or €30 million.

It is very rare that release clauses are activated. As that require that the full amount is paid up front.

The fact that Everton have scouted and showed interest for Barry does not mean they are willing to pay a massive overprice by activating the release clause.

Im not saying we will splash it out in one go, but we are willing to possibly spend this bit spred out.

Just seen that we are 'long term admirers' of Dan James. Christ, I hope not. He's awful. Looked promising as a kid but has not kicked on at all. Like Theo Walcott - bags of pace, no footballing brain and just runs in straight lines.
Do you know what, I thought that too - then I saw them a few times this season and he was fantastic every time. Granted it was the Championship, but there’s a reason Gnonto was on the bench - Solomon on the left and James on the right were just in such great form. James has been in and out of sides for years and he really looks to have benefitted from a bit of consistency. He wouldn’t be a glamorous signing - and I can’t see Leeds letting him go for a reasonable fee so it’s probably a non-starter - but it could actually work funnily enough.

Just see him as another harrison if honest id see him behind mcneil is a postion i really want to see a player come in and take the starting apot

I doubt Moyes would want someone so inexperienced as a direct replacement for Gana, but it could be this kid plus an older head I guess, maybe someone like Ndidi.

We’re apparently looking for a 6 type even if Gana stays so would make sense to sign the young lad regardless.

Interested in activating Ndidi's £9m release clause according to TalkSport. You're an oracle, mate.

That fee has Moyes all over it.

Newcastle fans I know rate him, maybe it’s partly due to him being a local. He’s not going to get many starts with the midfield they have now.
Think most fans are against this cos he’s not got a sexy name and is 27.
Also the fact he first started getting linked during the whole Benitez debacle so Everton supporters have a tendency to forever attach negative connotations to another aspect even if there was just a broad association. So when the possibility of long staff comes they just think Benitez trying to foist an unexciting Newcastle product on us and they become livid
