Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Afternoon all, I’m chuffed to bits right now because I have just driven my car for the first time since I broke my arm which is 6 weeks. It felt so great - like putting an old pair of slippers on.
Also on Friday I saw a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden! I’ve only ever seen them in Greece before (although I know they are all over the Mediterranean). I actually hate moths, they give me the creeps, but it was fascinating to watch it dance around the flowers.
Glad to hear @Barnfred 55 is having a great time, and I bet your dog looks cute after its hair do @peteblue .
Have a lovely Sunday 💙
Well done Val on the driving 👏

Good to hear you able to drive again. Our old neighbour ( the one we cared for) was terrified of moths and wouldn’t have her bedroom window open even in summer for fear one would get in. She also kept the bedroom door closed for fear of burglars, how she didn’t suffocate I’ll never know.

It’s an odd thing, but a mate who died last August, his wife said to me he appeared in a dream as real as it could be. Last week he appeared during my sleep and he said he was back for a week to sort a few things out. It was so real that I told her about it and she said he said similar to me. I know the mind can play awful tricks but it was also a comfort. Don’t let go, just appreciate such ‘visitations’ but put the financial issue to one side and enjoy seeing her again…..
I had a vivid dream about my Dad, who died in 1984. I was travelling by train and he was sitting at the table opposite. Instead of being pleased to see him I was furious and screeched “You’re alive after all. How could you? For over thirty years we thought you were dead!” Even if I remember my dreams they usually fade quickly, that one, however, has stayed with me for what must be a couple of years now. I wish it would go away.

I've had a bad day today. Last night I felt just a little better for a little while, I went round to a friend's, had a chat and played a board game, and enjoyed it. When I got home about 1am, I put my weekly radio show together as normal, watched some TV with a few beers, and I even started thinking 'Right, tomorrow I must start eating a bit better, go for a walk more and generally try to get it together a bit'. When I woke up, that feeling had gone completely, I still haven't eaten today yet and I'm consumed with despair.
I think what made it even worse was that I had a dream where I was sitting in my 'office' ('man-cave'), and I heard her shout me. I went in, and she was looking at her phone and rambling a bit. I said 'you must have just woken up and you're half asleep', but then I realised that something wasn't right. I said 'wait, but you're not supposed to be here - and yet you are! What's going on??', and I woke up, utterly devastated. I haven't recovered all day, I just spent half of it climbing back into bed hoping to be able to doze off to escape life for another hour or two.
I have a call due with the CAB benefits advisor on Monday morning to sort out what I can claim, but it's so hard to motivate myself. I can barely function with normality, let alone begin climbing, alone, out of a hole. I know she was responsible for that financial disaster, and the agony of not knowing what on earth was in her head haunts me 24/7. I want to talk to her, find out, and forgive her. But I never can.
On Monday night Andy'sManClub have a local meeting, so I think I will go along as it's the last week I will have the car. See what they are all about.
A Facebook friend very kindly set up a GoFundMe page for me, which has got a couple of thousand in now, which shows me I have friends at least, and it will help a lot practically in the short term, but I can't shake the idea that the balance of my mind and emotional state will never return.
I've heard the term 'hell on earth' bandied about a lot. This is the first time I've understood it...
You have had a massive upheaval in your life and this will take time to process. Keep on keeping on - You can and will eventually learn to cope with it. I have had a look on GoFundMe for a likely fundraiser, forgive the intrusion ( others on here will confirm I am a nosey old bat) are you Stephen Pilkington?💙

You've got it, that's me! Normally Steve, but Sunday name used for the fundraiser...

Morning all, looks like a visit to Curry’s or Comet is on the cards today. The Fridge/ Freezer has broken down and it was brand new, well it was 30 odd years ago when I bought it, no staying power……..
Good luck getting the same size , you will save the cost in the next couple of years .Was the old one gas ? or wind-up ? Have you checked that is is just not blocked with ice ? Have you checked the fuse ? No point in throwing out a good machine . Did you know the motor is actually a compressor ? Just in case you need one !
One last point a free standing has about 30% more capacity than a built in one .

Good morning. I hope everyone is as good as they can be today. Well done on driving again @Val P . I hope @Gwladysover is having/had a good time with the grandchildren. Good luck with the fridge freezer shopping @peteblue . Things were certainly built to last in those days. I recently replaced a small chest freezer that we had - it was older than both my children!
Not much going on at the moment. Im due back at work next week but the doctor wants to see me before I do so I'll have to make an appointment.
We might be going to Nottingham at the weekend to visit Chris and Sophie - the cat is still missing. Sad to say, I don't think she is coming back.
Have a good day all.

Morning all, trying to catch up here after three really hectic days, and now dashing out again for most of the day!

@peteblue , i was talking about Curry’s with my eldest son yesterday who had changed his fridge. Long story short, they are good , we get the full package from them usually for big items - install and take away the old item . It obviously costs but for me it’s worth it.

Well that was a new one for me at the Sting concert last night. The main support act was the Christians and their drummer had a cardiac arrest 2 songs in. Given there were probably around 20000 drunken revellers there the crowd were impeccable. I think most were probably in shock. Everyone knew pretty much immediately that something serious had happened as it unfolded on the big screens. But credit to them they switched the cameras off in seconds and had a privacy screen up in no time. I guess they must prepare for this sort of thing, but I've never heard of it happening to a band member before.

Sting came on a half hour early and was very good, playing a lot of early Police stuff. Oh, and I got absolutely drenched. 😀

The family lunch went really well and I was well sozzled by the end of the night. I can see a recurring theme here. Its a boys sesh kicking off at 2pm today. My mate Nick will be sick of the sight of me as it's the third meet in 5 days then I'm up in Scotland with him for another 5 days bext week.

It sort of works. The problem is that the temperature is not consistent. I’ll try turning the two foot key on the side as you suggest……

Yes, I saw that on the Curry’s website. Taking the old one away is a must……
