News of Ex Players

From The Grauniad - I'm pleased if true.
John Stones has moved to shut down speculation about his future by stating he wants to remain at Manchester City, though serial injuries caused “dark days” that made him consider whether to play on.

The 31-year-old endured another injury-plagued season in 2024-25, managing only 1,134 minutes in all competitions and six Premier League starts. The defender, who signed in summer 2016, has never made more than the 23 league starts for City he made in his opening campaign.

….was reading @alan ball ‘Boys in Royal Blue Jersey’ vol3 yesterday and you’re reminded of little things like Gavin McCann getting a full England cap whilst at Sunderland.

On the quiz theme, I was reading how one of our players got an English title medal with us and then another for a different club. It got me thinking, I can only come up with 2 players who won the title with us who then went and won it with another English club. I dare say there are more but I can only think of 2.
Kevin richardson off the top of my head

Keown maybe... or was he here too late after 87...

…yep, he had some career after winning the title with us. He also did so with Arsenal. Terrific player.

The other one, which I picked up from his interview is Bobby Mimms.

Beyond those two, I’m not sure any player has won the title with us then gone on and won with another English club.
I think it illustrates just how good the titles side was that he operated so much as a sub.

I’m delighted you said it’s Bobby mimms as that’s been massively troubling my brain this morning . Obviously I knew richio had but I spent a troubling amount of time trying to figure out the other name , a Sunday morning speculating on a teams from the 70’s as I had no recollection of mimms’ success .
