New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

So it's not in town then.

20yrs ago, Goodison had one of the best dispersal times in the league according to a football research study at the time (they went around all premier league clubs and measured the time it took for local roads to get back to normal after a game). Of course, there are good and bad examples, and a lot also depends on the demographics and make-up of the different fanbases, ie the number of out of towners etc. Hence the difference between Anfield and Goodison on that score despite the relative close proximity. The issues with BMD were obvious from the start..... but so are some of the potential solutions..... and everything will be dependent on whether we can achieve the modal shift predicted.

20 years ago and dispersal rates? I know you're very experienced Tom but I think you're a bit confused with people getting out of the stadium and actually having plans in place to get them away once they're in the near vicinity.

I was only really responding to the notion that Goodison was a "nightmare" in terms of transportation, by referencing the last major UK study of UK stadium transport that I was familiar with, that made a direct comparison of all of the premier league grounds (and others) at that time. There have been other more recent articles etc, but none that appear to be anywhere near as comprehensive in terms of referencing/measuring actual traffic/transport data. Of course, some things will have changed in that time, such as increased car ownership, etc, but that would apply across the board. There may also have been major road infrastructure and public transport changes at some stadia sites in that time.

I'm not sure what you think I'm confused about , and/or whether you're referring to something I have said about Goodison or BMD. I've posted about the obvious inadequacies at our new site since it was first mentioned, during the consultation process and consistently after the first "transport plan" docs were published. I was concerned about the initial vagueness regarding any new provision, and what I saw as the resultant over reliance on walking relatively long distances, and therefore whether or not the required modal-shift can be achieved (which is what underpins the whole plan).

I think the difference between opinions on a forum where half of the people never go the game anyway and actual match going fans differs. I know just as many season ticket holders who are gutted (but understand the reasons why) we're leaving Goodison compared to the ones excited about Bramley Moore. Some are both. The ones having wet dreams about the new ground when they haven't got a clue what its going to be like are just plain weird.

I was looking at the Everton minute books yesterday - as you do - and I noticed that right from the off when Everton moved from Anfield to Goodison the club were sending out directors to the Liverpool tram companies to petition them to feed Goodison more than the lines that were in existence. Asking at one point for a tram line to stop servicing Oakfield Road (where they weren't anymore) too!

Takeaway message is: if you want to help your fans get to a new facility then you have to have a club that fights tooth and nail for them with the authorities.

I’m gutted we had to leave Goodison, I adore the gaff, all my football memories are there and just because of what the place means to me. I would have preferred to redevelop it but that was a non-starter.

However, I can also still be really excited about our new home and the future Everton fc, even if I don’t have a clue what it’s going to be like at BMD, and I don’t find that weird at all?

Where I am your perspective is a really odd take?

Aren’t you excited? Not even a little bit?
