G.A.A. 2025.

Derry v Dublin game of the weekend?

Very hard to call. What do you think boys?
Con O'Callaghan named on the bench apparently but will almost definitely start.

If Dublin cut out the wides they'll win. I watched back the Armagh game again and they actually played pretty well. Just need accuracy in passing and point taking.

Feels like the end of the road with Derry. They just don't have the quality coming through to replace the players who have left the squad.

Mayo in real trouble, has to be one big game in them, no?

Derry have been written off everywhere and that must hurt. Their last 15 against us was brilliant and they should have beaten Galway. To get Dublin north of the border seems like a shot at wiping the slate clean.

Dublin did play well against Armagh but didn’t have belief. They panicked in good positions but can certainly address that. POCB really impressed me that day.

At the start of the week I had a Mayo win but now I’m edging to Donegal. Depends what Mayo turns up in what is close to a home game for them. From an Armagh point of view, I want Donegal to have to play as many games as possible as they are relying on maybe 18 players.

Good game up in Newry, good win for 5his young developing Dublin team, really good performances by POCB and Young McDaid - likes of Clancy get more likes on the clock.

John Small I thought was brilliant today as was Lee Gannon - brilliant on his first Champo start in acouoke of years - we’ve missed him. Com the quiet assassin again.

We’ve enough talent as any team in Ireland, but for my money, the defence is to inexperienced and we’re a year or so off it. Conceding almost 15+ points a game - balance in the team is off for me and you will get a day when your forwards wil be kept out. One day it will just click but won’t be this year.

Shame to see Derry bow out, worse teams will be in P Quarter finals but that’s Championshio football.

All teams who’ve come out of thst group will be hard bet, real championship intensity were those games, they will be battle hardened.

We’re back out next week in Croker.

As good a synopsis of Dublin as I've seen.

It was an excellent game to watch. POCB has been fantastic in his last 3 games in the round Robin, really came of age against Galway.

Point taking was much much better than last week, still not creating enough goal scoring chances.

There's a good core to build on and O'Callaghan and Kilkenny were both sublime today.

Im really pleased to get out of that tough group mate and while i think this is a transition year - i wouldn't underestimate coming out of that group, two games against Northern teams who have brilliant defenses (also crack forwards) and Galway are up there with the best in the country - is great experience and some of the hits taken yesterday are a great learning curve - especially coming away with a win back over the border.

I'm really pleased with that and the experience it will give even if its all we achieve this year and being competitive - we finished level on points with the champions. I think we will be a bit more hardened then some others coming out of other groups - so the draw is a roll of the dice.

Still think we are unbalanced, as a team a bit green and bad at the back but i can see other teams maybe playing more open and not marking the likes of Bugler out of the game too. That said i was around at Plunkett's this week and was told he's carrying an injury and delaying surgery - so he's not 100% anyway.

Congratulations to Dublin - a brilliant performance by 14 men. As a Limerickman, that was a sad way for our great team to go - but gone we are. The decline has been obvious for three years. We slowly subsided year-on-year. Injuries finally caught up with us - not so much in who we were missing today, but in what these "recovered" players now are missing. 22 and 23 were against-the-odds wins in those circumstances. Loyalty to fading forces sealed the deal. Understandable, but fatal. But it still took a superb, gutsy Dublin to seal the deal. Worthy winners.

Good luck to Dublin in the semi-finals now.
