Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello all. Ive just got back from Liverpool. The family did their Mum proud. She would have approved. I ended up doing a reading at the Mass because my cousin's daughter who had organised everything ( my deceased cousin's husband has recently been diagnosed with dementia and wasnt up to it) had forgotten to ask anybody to do it! So I got about 5 minutes notice.
I stayed in the Childwall Abbey pub last night. It used to be a favourite haunts back in the day but I haven't been there sincecI was in my 20s. It hasn't changed! Lovely old building, decent beer garden and a bonus ukele band who specialised in Irish songs. I met up with my brother and some other cousins last night.
It was so hot in Liverpool today - my naturally curly hair went into full frizz mode this morning- I looked like an alpaca and no end of hair products would help!
I hope you are all enjoying the sun. Have a lovely weekend x
Happy anniversary @Barnfred 55
I got banned from The Childwall Abbey in 1978 , luckily no one recognised me last year when I went for my mate’s mum’s wake.

Thank you H. 33 years ago today. I knew you'd remember. When we met the other week I was half expecting somebody with grey crinkly skin and a very long snout. No offence. 😀

I'm going to walk up to Allerton later for a little chat with Cal and also my brother. He was a massive red so will no doubt be celebrating at the moment. It’s a round walk of about 4 miles so in this heat I shojld sweat off my hangover. Tonight I'm going for a posh meal with 2 of my sisters. My eldest has travelled down from the Lakes for the family lunch I've organised on Sunday.. There will be 4 generations there so really looking forward to it. The daughter of my great niece who died of breast cancer a few years back is making her debut.💙
As you know I do have crinkly skin , but I like to flatter myself that my snout is not that long😂 Hope you a lovely chat with Cal and your brother. Enjoy your posh meal and family get together on Sunday.💙

My kids were right at home in Liverpool from no age ( think both 5 for first games). As they get older they realise that Liverpool is as Irish as any place on this sod. Experiencing different countries and cultures is a great thing for kids lucky to do so, as in realising how special home and Liverpool is.

I was just about to write 'you have clearly never been to The Childwall Abbey if you think it needed bouncers' 🤣 but @bigjonny said it all - old farts' place!
I regrettably went through the fighting the Bouncer stage until I had my hole handed to me. Big South Armagh lad in the Big Smoke etc etc

If you could just have a word with your younger self….😗

I've had a wonderful night Anj. I couldn't have wished for a better one. As a family we don't spend a lot of time together but when we do it's special.

I hope it was delicious, it looks it. Love ouzo too - have you tried lamb kleftiko that is also tasty.
Lamb is hard to get here unless it is easter ,you can get minced but only frozen .I will though keep it behind my ear as they say . My wife and I really enjoyed it a different mix of spices than we normally cook with but it was umptious and we will have it again.

Morning all, off to spend the weekend with grandkids 1 & 2 as their parents are off on a jolly in Manchester. Been planning what to do and have come to the conclusion it’s just going to be too blummin hot to do much at all. A day at the seaside would be ideal but the world and his wife will have the same idea and the thought of sitting on the A47 all day in traffic doesn’t appeal.
Have a good day, all.💙

The £3 is now £3.50. Still worth it though. Brucie bonus is the girls set at Pink Pop is being streamed live. So if you're looking for something to do later 8.15pm and the link is on the Pink Pop website. Olivia Rodrigo is straight after and Muse are heading tomorrow. I watched Amyl and the sniffers earlier and the sound is pretty good.

Enjoyed Keo but they are a bit too similar to Wunderhorse for me. Flo Ro only had 1 song I didn't know. I thought both EPs were a bit short and they should have kept on dropping ai goes until they had maybe 8 songs ready to go.
