“Everton Football Club, through its new ownership under The Friedkin Group, has acquired Insight Sport, a sports data consultancy. Insight Sport is not a physical product but a company that provides advanced analytics and data-driven solutions to enhance performance and strategic decision-making in sports. The acquisition is part of Everton's strategy to bolster its analytics capabilities, with Chris Samuelson, who has worked with 14 clubs across Europe through Insight Sport, joining the club to support this initiative. This move is aimed at improving Everton's long-term competitiveness, particularly in areas like player recruitment and performance analysis”

Who is Chris Samuelson?

It's Chris Howarth's company.

I wonder if these people are a fancy term for “recruitment team”? If so it won’t be reinventing the wheel.

I also see tucked away in this news is an acquisition of something called Inside Sport. What’s that?
Got to be more than just recruitment you would hope.
A way of playing, and our strategy around what works and what are the trends in world football.

Then there’s strategy in terms of the mix of player profiles, how many young prospects on x salary, older pros on y salary, managing contract renewals and player sales.

Then there’s player performance, fitness and injuries and management of the squad.

Are we still employing the people who smeared the fans to the media?

Said the board should stay away from the ground for the own safety and the chief exec had been attacked?

Might be an idea to show them the door if we want a new start and build trust with the fans.

As someone who’s spent his whole career in this space, I can tell you that *sometimes* (not always) bad PR and bad communication is down to the actions of leadership. They can be told the right way to do things, but still not want to because of ego or ignorance or something else.

Put it this way, do you think the PR and comms people at Forest are telling their owner to act like a complete idiot and stab other clubs in the back all the time? Surely not.

"Following a comprehensive recruitment process, the Club has appointed Nick Cox as Technical Director, James Smith as Director of Scouting and Recruitment, Chris Howarth to direct the Club's football strategy & analytics operations and Nick Hammond to lead the Club's player trading activity."

Don’t let us down boys, or you’ll each have a thread dedicated to you!
