Heretic with Hugh Grant.
Not bad,imo.
But he never changes.
Enjoyed that pretty much entirely based on Hugh Grant's obnoxious character. His switch from playing overly polite middle class good guys to overly confident amoral arseholes has been very enjoyable.

Could have been a much more satisfying film with a bit more thought to the final act.
Rather than miracle recovery from slit throat.

On Falling.

Beautifully acted, but beyond bleak and packs a massive punch.

A young Portuguese migrant, wonderfully played by Portugals leading lady, Joana Santos, plays an introverted migrant worker in a giant warehouse somewhere in Scotland, whose life consists of nothing more than being a minimum wage drone, along with every other worker in the warehouse.

Trapped by her hamster wheel of a life, little by little the film slowly strips her of all means of escape. She has no money, she has no life outside of work, she has no real friends and she is trapped by her life as a worker drone.

It watches very similar to Ken Loach’s film about zero hours delivery drivers - “ Sorry We Missed You “

A fantastic film and will win a lot of awards, but by jove it’s bleak.

Sounds like its right up my street that
..
On another note, i think more people than we realise live a hamster wheel exsistence. Its sad really

It`s a magnificent film mate, but I felt empty at the end of it.

Joana Santos is incredible in the lead and there`s one scene in it, which is one of the most uncomfortable things I`ve watched, which she plays to absolute perfection - she`ll be winning awards for this.

Can`t be doing with the gang of low life thugs in it though.

Pure scum.
I somewhat agree - but at least it’s a very accurate depiction of what scouse crime looks like, none of this jarg story telling that comes out way. I loved Shooters cos it was so lofi, I don’t get the impression it glamourised crime either, it was a factual account.

Started this after trawling through seemingly hundreds of film choices. I'm just not digging movies and TV as much as I used to. Maybe I've mentioned it before but time is precious to me these days and I can't be arsed wasting it on current uninteresting overhyped [Poor language removed].

It's got a beautiful pallette of cinematography, a clever storyline about loneliness in a modern hyper-connected digital world and a strong lead performance from Phoenix as the sensitive, intelligent and angsty main nerd.

Plus Scarlett and her tonally perfect voice as his secret AI love.

Might watch this. Heard a lot of good things about it, might be a bit close to the bone for my lonely ass, though.
