The Club World Club

There’s been some serious spending already by a number of top teams that you would have thought would have been already leveraged / compromised to the tits.

I listened to documentary on YouTube by Alfie Potts Harmer and he went into detail on the financial rewards for the world club cup. As you could probably guess, it’s basically just another way the status quo can be perpetuated and the prize money to be split is 1 billion between various teams.

Apparently….. the prize money has been financed by, at FIFAs request, the Saudi PIF had given DAZN TV (who have been making losses year on year) 1 billion and they have in turn then paid FIFA 1 billion to show the games.

This will obviously allow for more breathing space when signing players as well as padding out revenues etc. For example, the New Zealand part time team who got drilled 10 by Bayern are getting £6m which in a part time league with an average salary of £70 a week is going to reduce competition significantly.

All of the above mate, the other thing is FIFA have been concerned about the power and Finance UEFA have developed in having the Champions League - footballs biggest money spinning competition. They’ve done this to try and wrestle some of that power and finance back from the UEFA and the Champions League and into their own hands.

Politically FIFA and UEFA can’t stand each other.
