ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Very much so! Incredibly impressive, and great to see an English player go abroad and actually make the effort to speak the local language. Kane has been at Bayern for two years and hasn't so much as mumbled a word in German as far as I can see. I recall Beckham speaking a little Spanish, but definitely not at that level of Trenty even after a few years there. I think maybe Owen Hargreaves in Germany was the last time I was genuinely impressed by an English player speaking a foreign language - although to be fair he had lived in Germany since he was 16 and up until he joined United, so it should be expected.
Gary Lineker speaks Spanish tbf

Their net spend is nonsense. There’s a direct line back from Van Dijk/Allison to Coutinho,
from Salah to Suarez to Torres Alonso Mascherano - who were all initially paid for with money Hicks and Gillet didn’t have, but rather than having to align to PSR like everyone has to do now, they got a friendly court bailout, their debt wiped, given to FSG on the cheap and allowed to keep all the playing assets they bought with money they didn’t have! So Torres Alonso Mascherano are all sold, Suarez is bought and the chain carries on and the ‘net spend’ argument with it ever since.

Chequebook fc, since their inception as a football club all they’ve done is paid the most money to get the top players to keep themselves relevant. They’re the original and longest standing financial dopers.

Should have been wound up in 2011 and forced to give back their 2006 FA cup.
Voice of reason. Thank you !!!

I posted something recently about how pathetic it was that they were only banned from Europe for one more season than the other English clubs. Turns out it's worse than that though; the rs were champions when we were let back in, so their extra year basically meant that there was no English club in the European Cup in the first season after the ban was lifted. There was also no English club in the UEFA cup that season as the co-efficient ranking had taken a dive.

EDIT: Was still in high school back then so just don't really remember it, and only just learned this now, hence the outrage.

Sad to see that kind of money becoming normalised....

Gonna have to be one hell of a player to justify that
The media won't be on his back if he doesn't live up to the price tag. Just look at Nunes for that lot. If he was bought for the money they paid for him the media would have crucified him long ago if he played for anyone else
