They won't sell me any DDT or agent orange at the garden centre, and the FBI froze my amazon account when I tried for it on there.

It is at least quite easy to pull out but you fill bags of the stuff..

Get a rotovator & place hea y duty ground over pinned down over the plot

It's anything but easy to pull out.
It is easy to pick out, BUT the bloody roots spread like wildfire and it reappears within days. As @joey said it needs rotavating or digging over and all roots removed.

Generally available poisons do not work on it - the stalks have a silica coating that protects the plant from such things, and you really do not want to use poisons that are strong enough as they are likely to take out half your neighbourhood as well. Like me, all you can do is weed it out and ignore that prat Monty Don with his "regular weeding will weaken it" nonsense. It was been weeded out almost daily in my garden since 1965 when my parents got this house, and its now stronger than ever.

Not sure if they are available to "normal" people - may only sell to trade, but apparently something called Diamond Super Concentrated Horse Tail and Mares Tail Weed Killer can work.
