Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

Should we want players who are past the whole trophy winning thing mate……
Nobody is coming to Everton with the idea that they've a better chance of winning trophies anyway
The World cup is enough for me to think he'd be motivated

Pep dropping a player doesn't mean that much in the scheme of things, he could be itching to play and doesn't want to be bit part
I'd be suprised if a part of him doesn't miss being the main man like he was at Villa

It depends were they are coming from mate, there’s been a small pool of clubs that monopolise trophies in frequency every year, we’ve a better chance then say Coventry when Gyökeres was there.

I guess it’s that question is it better to get players on their way up or on the way down after reaching the summit - may be it’s wrong to presume that players still won’t be hungry after leaving the likes of City - but we’ve been burned in the past with the Schnderlins of this world - so I think it’s definitely worth due diligence.

It's true, having won the lot at club level he may be chilled about that but the World cup is around the corner and a loan is worth the risk for this world cup year imo
We spent 90k per week on Harrison for 2 seasons on loan to put it in context

True mate, but that was at our lowest ebb. The club was in such circumstances that it had to give The Duke 100k + a week and Harrison 90k, it was because we had little to no alternative.

I guess the change now is we’ve gone from bust to boom. If we’ve learned anything from the past it’s not to blow the boom. So a deal here begs the question of value and motivation. He earns £15 mill a year, what % of that are we paying and what his loan fee.

I’m one of Moyes’s biggest fan boy on here, but if we’ve learned anything cast our minds back to Moyes 0.1. We had a slip stream of Utd players here at the time at the back end of their careers, Gibson, Neville, Saha and Howard the joke at the time was we were a retirement home for Utd players.

I guess I hold a bit of caution on the above and this deal and how we manage the boom, even if I’m also open minded in it.

still don’t see it!
He has won it all already. So how else can he test himself - aside from qualifying for the WC with England, which let’s face it is probably an eventual road to nowhere?

How about leading the line for one of the grand old football teams of England, Britain, and Europe, as they reclaim their rightful place and hopefully bag some silver?

He could be the main man for a season or maybe two here, in a way that he never could be at City.

I imagine Moyes will be a little different with a bit more relative money to spend
Watch us sign Coufal now:lol:

Few reservations...

1) Doesn't strike me as the most motivated lad in the world, I worry this might be a less extreme version of Dele Alli

2) He earns insane money. Even with City subsidising it we'd presumably have to make him our highest paid player

3) He plays on the left or, at a push, as a number 10. This also describes our best player (or at least arguably our best player). How do you fit both in and, is it really a priority?

That being said, he was/is an excellent player who's never really suited Pep's style and it'd be difficult not to get excited about it.

Play them both.

There you go lads, go cause havoc.

Newcastle seem to be in for Sancho, and if they get him, then Grealish to Everton (loan) becomes a real possibility.

As others have said, next season is all about getting in the world cup squad, so fringe players like Grealish need to be playing well. With us, he's playing most (if not, all) games, so its an opportunity to give himself the best chance he can of impressing Tuchel and getting in the world cup squad.
