Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

I think aswell as that though, while the idea of trying to work out the PSR implications of deals and all that might be a new concept as a football fan, the idea of judging whether a player is good value or not isn't. There's never been a period in my 30 odd years as a fan where you wouldn't be discussing whether a player was good value for what was being paid - in fact one of my first memories of going to watch Everton was being crushed to hear my dad and his mates talking about Tony Cottee being a waste of money when I was telling everyone in school that he was the best player in the world.

I also think part of the issue is, the two concepts are also quite different in lots of ways too.

I remember arguing with a couple of red mates when we sold Godfrey and I said it was a good deal for PSR. But they were like it was a bad deal overall. As we paid 25 and sold for 10. Both were probably true but contradictory.

I mean I could go on a huge rabbit hole on this, but PSR is a very flawed model like. It's a form of EBITDA, which in the business world is largely discredited. Most football fans know it's nonsense as well.

It's funny though re Grealish and I said to my brother it depends on the deal. We have almost become accoustomed to judging every player by a sell on percentage idea.

I must admit I’ve come around on this one.

If there is anything in it, the Friday-rumoured 12-month loan would tick the marquee signing box while neutralising most of the financial risk?
