Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

It's just opinion obviously, but for me no. I'd guess there'd be a sizeable loan fee, huge wages, and he plays the same position (in a similar way) to our best attacking outlet at the moment. All in all it's just not a particularly appealing move to me at all.
Mate fair enough…valid points

£300k actually 😅

Siggurdson improved us. He was better than what we had but he was an absolutely collosal waste of money. Even if he achieved his peak form and scores 8/9 goals in a season he would only be replicating what NDiaye did for far less out lay. Not the player we need.

Fair enough, however, he would not be replacing Ndiaye. It is more realistic to say he would be replacing Harrison or Doucoure. So, if he scores 8/9 and gets a few assists, generally keeps the ball better than those players then we have improved.

Yes, players can be improve us straight away and then fade, some players can start slowly and build into a team. I am not sure comparing and contrasting previous dealings is relevant. Every target we have this summer will an aspect of their style, where they come from, their age and be comparable to at least one previous signing who failed.

If a player can improve us then we should consider them. Some will be more short term and some will be long term.

Are we still talking about Grealish here?! He plays in the same position as Ndiaye, so you can't just randomly have him replacing someone else in a different position and act like it makes no difference, and he's only ever scored 8 goals in a season once, 6 years ago, so it would be a hell of an ask to expect him to rock up here and have his best ever goalscoring season at the age of 30.

You can't. Recruitment isn't that simple.

Affordability matters, building a sustainable squad matters.

We're not talking about a player on £100k we might be able to pay £80k of for a season.

Yes, affordability matters, just not to me.

I have spoken about it before but I have (want to) regress back into supporting a football club not a business. I am enjoying watching football like a kid. If I was a kid, I would not care what he was getting paid, what we paid for a player. It would not, for one moment, enter into my head. All I would be thinking about is watching that player play.

As I am in my 40's it is hard not to be 'mature' about discussing viable players for the club but for me, that would only more be in the fact that I may have more experience in judging tactical play and how a player will fit into the system, or thinking about injury records.

Finances just don't interest me. So, I can easily only discuss the football side, because of that lack of interest and having literally having no knowledge on whether it would be better if he was on x amount rather than y amount.

Okay, fair enough.

No issue with people having visceral, pure football opinions and discounting the more humdrum aspects of the game.

I suppose I can see them both playing all across the line behind the striker. Ndiaye seemed to drift along the line a few times in the last few games?

Either way, stats aside, I think there is a possibility that he can improve the first 11 and definitely improve the squad.
