Transfer Rumour Jack Grealish

Expensive luxury player ? And where does he fit in the team (assuming he ever gets fit).

There's a reason city paid all that money for him but there's also a reason they want rid.

Gazza, Ginola, Van De Meyde, Drenthe, Alli.

It doesn't often work out for us.

Etoo and Rodriguez may be positive examples.

He's best off the left and we're crying out for a right sided wide player so this link makes no sense at all

Are you really using those examples?

Ginola, Gazza were frees. Ginola was here for 4 months. Played 5 games. Likewise with Gazza, the played was there, his legs weren't, sadly.

Drenthe, was a loan. When he was on it, was a cracking player. Head was elsewhere.
Alli we structured it so we paid nothing for his fee. His contribution in Palace, was maybe worth any wages we paid af all.

Then you include James? Fella missed 15 games of his only season due to injury? Amazing player, hardly reliable. Etoo lasted 6 months?

Id say look at the positive impact the manager has had on players like Pienaar, Saha, Arteta, even Darron Gibson. Gareth Barry under Martinez.

Theres lots of examples where it has worked out for us.

They weren't the expensive or luxury players in my opinion. Just an opinion.

….one has a host of medals, approaching 30 with wealth beyond his means, the other two were young with everything to prove & hungry for success.

Pienaar & Arteta had all the talent imaginable, but for whatever reason, it wasn't working at their clubs.

I dont look at Grealish, and see a player like Rashford, I think hunger is there, needs a move, I think he'll flourish if used correctly, and I think Moyes would do it, ala Pienaar, Arteta, Howard, whatever you want to call it.

Theres a player in Grealish still for me.

….i’ve always thought he’s vastly overrated but i suppose much depends on % of wages we’d have to pay. He certainly wouldn’t be on my wish list.

Grealish for me, is in the same bracket as Pienaar, Arteta.

Down on luck, needs some love... whether we get him or not, it'd risk free on a loan.

Sancho is much more that sort of player - big money move that didnt work out, obvious quality that would improve us, young enough to turn it around and available (relatively) cheaply.

Grealish is too old and plays in a position we don't need help with.

….wowzy, another overrated, overvalued individual. I posted in 2021 that United would be making a big mistake signing him. He also has apparent off-field issues, says lots when Chelsea had the option of signing him but instead paid United £5m to send him back, need to steer well clear of that type.

Definitely a better option. Same problem over the wages but I'd take Sancho over Grealish all day.

These 2 are exactly the sort of players that I can't stand and which we should avoid.

Massively overpaid , no hunger or desire , overrated and poor attitudes.

No thanks

….a bit like having to choose Harrison or Lindstrom when the best solution is to have neither.
I see your point, but Moyes is the master of getting the best out of his players. If he could get the best out of Sancho for example, he's a double figure goal return player. We get that sort of return from both wings and we'd have a very good season.
