Transfer Rumour Ben Doak

I think medical science may have on since the 1800s

11th November 2013:

"Lionel Messi has been ruled out for the next six to eight weeks with a hamstring tear, Barcelona have revealed.

The Argentina forward was forced off after less than half an hour of Sunday's match against Real Betis after pulling up with a muscle problem in his left leg."

Thank God we skipped trying to sign this fraud up.

…the same applies, that acceleration on existing scar tissue means they’ll inevitably pop. I know from experience, my quad and hamstring problems started after I signed for RS, teachers took me to Anfield during my lunch break for treatment off Joe Fagan.

They troubled me throughout my playing days forced me to even stop playing 5-a-side as an old bloke. Must be dreadful things for a professional to have to manage.
Didn’t know you were poached by Liverpool Eggs.

I’ll see myself out. But before I do, injuries aside it’s genuinely just difficult to see us signing a player from the RS. From memory the last player to cross the park was Abel Xavier (which was bizarre), but it does highlight just how rare it is for us to do business. Between the injuries and us never doing business, I just don’t see it.

Was before my time, was he any good? Why did they even want him?

Talking about Xavier btw not Eggs

No, he was pretty crap. That said, we were crap at the time, so he was perfectly in line with our other players. He only played 43 league games for us (0 goals) before leaving at a loss. and Liverpool must have realised he was garbage as he only played 14 league games for them before being punted out on loan.

I was only about 12 myself when he left, but I remember him being poor and was very surprised Liverpool went in for him.

Most prominent memory of him is Gazza leaning out the window shouting “don’t go Abel!” as we were selling him, probably both their Everton career highlight that.

There's been attempts between the two teams in between now and back then.

This might make you laugh, but the data guy who basically transformed Liverpool's recruitment has written a book called "How to win the Premier League", there's a passage in it which my RS mate brought to my attention...

“In 2015, despite the failed Rickie Lambert experiment, Benteke was yet again top of [Rodgers'] list. By 2015, I preferred the idea of signing Lukaku from Everton. Another ‘hybrid’ striker, he could play the target man role of Benteke, but had other strengths that would fit much better with Liverpool’s style of play. The plan didn’t really get off the ground. Our CEO Ian Ayre was given the unenviable task of ‘crossing the park’ to ask Everton if they’d sell, and was told in no uncertain terms that they would never sell a player to Liverpool.”

Love those.

Delicious if made properly.

Ian Ayre - is that the little goblin with the alehouse tan?

Gazza's highlight was probably the Ginola wig in all fairness.
