Manchester United

I wonder if he's angling for a new contract offer. His departure will give them leeway to spend, although he's been by far their best player.
I suspect you'd need at least £80 million to get someone in to replace those 15 goals and 15 assists he usually guarantees per season. Look how much Wirtz has gone for (and there's no way that United are good enough to get that kind of player)

i’ve just looked and they’re valued second to real madrid in world football value wise

how?!
Value and worth can be very different.
They’re in debit up to their eye balls because the Glazers borrowed the money to buy them, then they take millions in owner dividends every year since.
Meanwhile they have a global income of millions too.

So they have the potential to be very rich but their owners have spend years bleeding them dry.

so is this position based on income that the glazers/ jim scruff cliff ?

It always galls me that these players never once consider taking a pay cut in order to play. It's like they can't possibly live on just £200k a week rather than £300k a week.
Sancho is the latest example of this after Chelsea asked him to take a pay cut and he refused. His career has been in freefall since he joined United, but that doesn't seem to matter.

Vaguely remember on the Radio years ago, young Chelsea players being asked what was the main reason they wanted to be Pro Footballers & nearly all of them said for the money. Oh dear.
Sorry, not really MU related.

Are utd in trouble here?

Signed Cunha for £62.5M. Wanted to pay over 5 years but Wolves made them pay over 2 (so bigger PSR hit).

Frenandes turns down the Saudi move, so no income there.

Sancho sale refused by Chelsea, so another £25M not incoming.

No sales for Rashford or Antony lined up just yet?

Do they now need some sales before 30th of June after their Cunha deal has gone through early?

Paying over two years definitely affects cash flow but PSR is related to how many years they amortise the spend over. This might be 5 years.

Remember Taggart years ago recounting how he had schoolboy Phil Neville in his office telling him how he wasn’t sure whether he wanted to be a footballer or a cricketer.

He set him straight on that obvs.
