Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No matter who Man United buy or what they spend, they are on a downward trajectory…just throwing money at a problem without realising or acknowledging the main cause of your problem.

We’ve seen that at first hand although on a smaller scale.
They've been doing this for a while now. When you look at their signings, every player is £30M+ minimum (usually a lot more). It's the only way they can get players in, over pay and also pay crazy wages. Their team play like they hate being there, but they're all just taking the big wage and pretending there's nothing wrong, going through the motions. They're the closest thing in the premier league to signing for a Saudi team.

Yeah…they got a 4 point punishment but so what every Forest fan will tell you it was 100% worth it.

We get a points deduction and we blew loads of money and ended up worse.

City, United, Chelsea…will never face punishment because they looked the Prem in the eye and went try it! We’ll bury you in legal fees and court costs for years.

We took it…cap in hand ‘sorry guv’nor’ not us the fans but the club sure as hell did.

Until you start thinking big and remember who you are you’ll get walked over!

I’m sick of being toothless as a club, expecting only woe and our best players to be sold.

I only hope TFG have bigger Cahones that the last owners

At the end of the day, it is how you spend the money and on what. It worked for Forest, as at the second attempt they spent well - their first year up it was absolute scattergun and nearly backfired. Reality is, Koeman/Walsh blew us out of the water with a summer of recruitment that has taken years to recover from. Other than the odd exception (like Leicester) it is usually the most talented team of players that is most successful.

As regards the O Riley rumours, I wouldn't say no, very good technically, has an eye for a goal, arrives late in the box, would need to be played in a 3. He used to play very well in Europe for Celtic. Had a horrific leg break in pre season last year, as previous poster mentioned his pace is the main weakness, he seldom seen out 90 mins for Celtic under Ange .

You’d seriously hope we announce Charly and Gana officially and get at least 2 in by the end of this short window.

Whilst at the same time announcing the release of Keane and DCL.

Wakey wakey Everton, let’s not dawdle. Be nice to actually start a new season ready for a change.

Probably true of most the spurs squad last season too

I’d be surprised to see us get too involved in this first small window. Prices will be artificially inflated due to the cut off for registering for fifa club World Cup, so very little value I’d imagine. The real window opens on 16th, only 6 days later so we’d be wise to keep our counsel. Also, most business doesn’t really get going until 1st July as it’s the natural end of contracts etc and when things start gearing up for pre season (not to mention new PSR year). I’d be surprised to see anyone join before then tbh.

Hmm, if Jobe goes for £25m, I can see that being the baseline for the first team players from your lot. Attackers generally go for more and I thought Jobe was a bit more coveted, but the Sunderland board may quite rightly ask for an inflated fee to team who are now a direct rival. For what it’s worth I like Hume. We have Jake O’Brien at CB who is also a NI international. That could be a fun connection to develop. If we got Hume for £20m I would be happy with that. It’s a risk, but every signing is.

I can’t see Sunderland selling 3/4+ players this window, it would be madness to do so. So if we want Hume it’s gonna be silly money territory.
Jake O'Brien is and Irish international not NI ☘️
