We should definitely let him go.

If only for the inevitable mid-season shouts of "we miss Dom" or "stupid to let him go" if we end up short up top due to injuries or not recruiting/struggle for goals/he has a little spell of form.

GOT fuel 101.

We have a history of trying to replace players and ended up trading down. How many forwards have we gone through since Dom joined? All have been thought of as worse and binned.

I'm not saying he should stay but people need to be careful what they wish for as players invariably look better elsewhere. Iwobs for one who appeared towards the top of one of those lists used to beat DCL with.

In a more fluid team where goals are shared and not expected to sit on one player, expect his finishing to be better. Anyone who we get in will probably look worse than they currently show. That might change once Moyes has had chance to shape the squad with some more attacking fullbacks though.

So do I, and he was a far better footballer than DCL
Confirmed.

Not sure about that bit. Not his strong point and at 28 i cant see it changing. Even going back to when Carlo was here i remember the goal at Newcastle that he just about put in with his shin on an open goal. Less said about the two efforts when put clean through at the same ground last week the better.

I think people are looking desperately for a striker that just isnt there. He's buried some great headers in the past. I thought the one at Spurs on carlos first game was beautiful. To me thats where he hasnt fulfilled his strength despite the service or lack of.

Beto has far more goals in him over a season.

The most obvious advantage Beto seems to have over DCL is not getting injured.

And actually, that's pretty darned important.

I love the back and forth arguing about Dom.

"He's a good goalscorer when he gets going"
"He doesn't score enough!!"
"It's because of injuries"

Defending a strikers lack of goals due to constant injuries isn't a great argument for keeping him IMO.

I'd happily want him to sign if, when fit, he banged them in. At least we'd know part of the season we'd be getting goals.
