Things you have completely wasted money on

One or two of my other outbuildings would be converted into storage garages for my collection of 80’s and 90’s cars….. pride of place would be an Escort Coswoth, an RS 2000 and on Opel Kaddette/vauxhall Astra GTE
We can dream, Kurtis, we can dream...

Unfortunately, I think the closest we're ever going to get that, is playing 'The Sims' with the cheat codes on, and pimping our simulated character out to that extent. 😥

I darent even think about tbh.

Clothes and trabbs probably the biggest waste of money.
Then there’s stuff like buying the latest iPhones and iPads etc and essentially giving the previous models away to to family.

Between age and having a child, both of which have changed my perspective - I’m horrified by what a profligate and materialistic 🔔🔚 I’ve been.
Also spent a small fortune on a water rower about 2 years ago but while it’s been gathering dust for a few months, I remain determined to get my moneys worth from it.

So then, what's the answer to deter this behaviour in this day and age, mate?

Drop out of the rat race, and join like a 'hybrid' Amish/Nudist commune? 🤔

Oh dear, I've known a few that paid a much higher price. You working back to something like full use? I loved my riding days, and I am glad I heeded some very early advice, 'get lots of miles under your wheels on a small bike and just learn the road'. Experience is everything. Few things are like gliding along enjoying the roads, mile after mile, bliss.

Absolutely, in fact one of the things that helped me in hospital was how much more injured everyone else in the ward (all bike riders) was.

I should say though that whilst experience, having a sharp lookout and generally not riding like the end of a bell is great advice there is no way to avoid the imbeciles who are so sadly common in the car and van driving communities. Maybe it’s just a London thing but it’s every day one sees someone who shouldn’t be trusted with a plastic cup, never mind a vehicle.

City riding is a nightmare, fit only for hollywood daredevils. Dangerous because people cross without looking, often from behind a vehicle they cannot be seen from, doors flung open, cyclists riding like they're on fire, and the general annoyance of everyone on four wheels - leading to absolute rage at all times.
Bit of good weather, pick a destination, get an idea of the roads (A & B) roughly there n back, go out and give it a go - make a circuit of it so it's not the same roads, chance it a bit because you never knew quite where you'd end up.

It's not mate, especially to riders.

I keep a lookout and try to be of help/shield/give way to them as I have tons of biker friends but there's some proper bells on the road, feels like they're chasing them down at times for some reason.

That would probably do it, or like me just belatedly grow up and give your head a wobble 🤭

Tbf I do still spend too much on stuff really, only I’m a lot more selective and less bothered about branded stuff rather than quality stuff and any purchases are far less frequent.
Like wise tech I’m still sucker for it but content to sit on stuff a bit longer and more inclined to trade in old stuff.

Also what I waste most money on now is Hot Wheels for our little one, he must about 250 of them ffs.

I think that was one thing I wasted money on was the kids toys. My son liked lego so we bought more lego and then more lego. "What shall we get for his birthday?" - "well he likes lego"
There was so much lego he couldn't play with it. All got donated a few years later.

One of my dreams is to win the lottery and buy myself a house with a few old buildings on the land. I would convert one of the buildings into a social club type thing for my mates to use and fill it with a load of the old arcade machines like the rallying booths which had the pedals and steering wheel and the motorbike ones where you sit on the motorbike and race your mates…. Oh and 2 full size snooker tables

You missed out a full Grand Prix circuit scaletrix, complete with all the stands and team garages 😂

During covid I built a house that I thought was going to be my retirement home and a place to spend long weekends and holidays. Post covid it became a massive chore to travel to, look after and was littered with minor problems. I lost about £35k when I sold it but it's the wasted time and effort I regret most.

That’s really sad that mate, as you lost your retirement dream too.
