Everton Youth Teams Thread

I watched chunks of both play off games that Eli Campbell played in , let’s say he was disappointingly poor , hardly looked interested at one point . He’s out of contract soon , it’s hard to see what level he’ll end up at , probably League2 as someone may take him on his England u20 caps. He really can do better than what I’ve seen of him lately , at least I hope so.
One of the more interesting/strange players we've had in recent years career wise.

Broke through as a schoolboy, played his entire scholar and then age 17 year without a pro deal to the point he was free to leave, then signed his pro when he was about to turn 18, loaned out the past 2 years and ended up in league 1 and then Ross County, relegated in both seasons. There's a player in there but he's gonna need some better guidance than he's been getting imo.

Also likely to be a bit on the club because the development of centre half prospects has been atrocious for years and saw them go out on loan and come back worse for it, Branthwaite not withstanding.

….the strategy of buying young defenders and bringing them through is working ok, Branthwaite, Stones and even Holgate have done well, let’s hope William Tamer is next.

It was a strange loan in some ways, a League where he should be capable of performing well in, with a smattering of high profile games but really far from home . Dingwall is not the place you nip out to for an evening match to watch him and keep an eye on him . I take your point about the club’s involvement and guidance but I have been underwhelmed by Eli’s attitude and performance which seems in contrast to Jenson Metcalfe’s attitude at Chesterfield.

….watched him a few times earlier in the season and thought he actually did ok but the fact he was loaned out for the final year of his contract said lots about him as far as Everton is concerned.

Be interesting if any club offers him a deal next year.

….have to admit to not seeing him highlighted as a special talent yet he wins U21 POY and get a new 3 year deal. Notice he’s a Leeds lad, be interesting if he’s part of the first team squad next season or goes on loan. Maybe Lewis Dobbin vibes but I’m sure others have a more informed view than me.

Three years for a kid who turns 21 early next season and doesn’t have a minute of senior football yet? Am I missing something?

Maybe he is the ultimate dressing room guy, which is an attribute/skill on its own?

Have to imagine that translates to a loan this year and probably the next, maybe hoping to build some value to sell? Again there are a half dozen players on the u21s that looked more ready to take the jump up to the 1st team than him.

A nice selection for him , although The Gambia are quite poor as a national team . I’ve still not seen enough to rate him , but in fairness he went from looking completely lost when he first came on as a sub to sharpening up his game a lot and being much more involved in subsequent matches. A low risk purchase to be open minded about and see how he does pre season.
