Let's not pretend that Chelsea aren't competing regularly for trophies domestically

People don't like it, but they are one the worlds biggest clubs now, they just are.

Chelase have won 20 trophioes, in 20 years. Thats more than we have in over 125 years.

They are the real deal now, with huge pull.

There's just no shame atm in players choosing the likes of Chelsea or Newcastle ahead of us.

We've got such a long long way to go to get back to where we need to be.

If the reported wage of 200k is true btw, I'd have been absolutely livid if that's the kind of figure we were looking to offer. It's that kind of stupidity that got us to where we are now.

I don't want us to be competing wage wise with teams offering CL football because that'll mean we haven't got a grip of our spending.

Agree with most of that. But I'm taking us out the situation.

It was rumoured Newcastle were interested...which do you think would be the better move between those two?

Also, as said before, they signed players who turned down the RS when Chelsea weren't in the champions league or winning anything. So the pull is more than football reasons.

United have bought Cunha in the same week. Who's the better striker if you REALLY needed one?

Newcastle also a better move than us for now, but not Chelsea...also striker has to compete with Isaak their.

London is a huge pull, and they are just a massive football club now...they pay HUUUUGE wages over 7 years.

Delap will also get in the England suad almost instantly now too.

Cunha played most his games behind a striker or in attacking midfield, so United getting him is a different issue completely....would imagine him WITH Delap could be special tbh.

Delap also grew up playing with Palmer behind him....

If he’s not playing he won’t get into the England squad.

Here’s me thinking players cared about playing and contributing to that success…

Nothing more embarrassing than a James maddison

Its not 1993 anymore mate.

Players are part of a 25 man squad, and most seem vary happy that way, Chelsea play 60 games a season.

We can moan and cry all we want, but when players pick smaller clubs than us.....we question their ambition and why would they join them etc.

These wages are a massive problem for young players and what is often ruining careers.

Who is likely to be able to afford him in a couple of seasons time unless he takes a huge pay cut?

Fair enough if this is what you are after…. Duran and toney spring to mind.

Yeah, spot on mate.

Delap and his people even speaking to us was a good thing, we are not ready to compete with those top 5 clubs for players.

We will one day.

The delusion in some blues at times is mental.

Chelsea is such a bigger and better move than us, right now. All day long.

WE see US as a better move bevcuase we aer biased, we have nothing to offer other than maybe to start more games, thats it, and thats not even certain.

It’s a good move for him, they play in 4 competitions, pay well, have the youngest squad in the PL cooking and he knows and obviously likes the management team really well.

It’s actually a no brainer.

Maybe we should have offered Chermiti on loan to the tractor boys as a sweetener..
2+2=5 Fab !

If I was Delap, I'd go to Chelsea. The thing they were mainly missing was a proper number 9. If they can get a full season of consistency they can win the league next season. They're in the Champions League and realistically are in with a chance in 4 trophies, which is 4 more than us. Why would you not want to be part of that?

I genuinely wonder what Dewsbury-Hall makes of his own move to Chelsea. On a wedge, played regularly in Europe and won a trophy but doesn’t get many minutes at all in the league. Will he be happy with his move and being part of it, or disappointed with the move as he doesn’t play much?
