Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Spin it however YOU want, but there’s a reason Besic only made 37 appearances for us over 7 years.
Spent 2 of those years on loan to championship clubs and then went to play in the Hungarian league before the age of 30.

Meanwhile Gueye has been and played alongside one of the worlds best ever footballers at PSG, came home and is still one of the most effective midfielders in the league well into his thirties.

It’s fine, you don’t think Gueye is good enough. But don’t talk crap to try and prove a point.
His stance is baffling to me , gueye had the most tackles in the league this season, yes he isn't the most skilled player on the ball, but players have different skill sets and roles , so have a midfielder that is technically sound on the ball next to gana, so gana can operate as a terrier and recycle the ball to more capable midfielder to proceed forward. Gueye is vital in disrupting the opposition attack, if we cant get him to resign we need a similar type of profile in midfield this season

So 30mil for someone to come off the bench and take a free kick. Sounds like a plan 🤣 He got 4 goals in his only season in the prem, playing every week, what are you expecting him to do of the bench. We could actually loan a player on the cheap, or get a free transfer to cover that role for a year.
Where's 30m come from?
That wouldn't be a serious number.

Our fans are something…

Gana is great (even at his age) at several things. Tackling, pressuring, cutting lanes, covering ground. He is just okay at others. Passing, carrying the ball.

But players that do all of those things better than Gana cost 70M+

Be reasonable when criticizing our good players just because they aren’t world class in all areas. We have poor players that need replacing before we start using limited funds to replace the good ones.

that’s exactly the problem, we need to buy someone who can pass a ball like that. We need a midfield dictator who can mix up short and long passing, taking the ball off the CBs and playing between the lines. When they do this the opposition CBs have to back off because they don’t want to be exposed over the top and the opposition midfield are worried to press too hard in case they’re bypassed, so they all sit deeper and we have more of the ball.

When Gueye or Garner get the ball from our CBs, the entire opposition team know they don’t have a pass in them and can squeeze up as tight as they want because in all likelihood they’re either going to cough possession up or just go back to a defender to hoof it.
Agree with you on that just no on gueye out of the team, think if we did have that player next to him would again be saying how good the team is and well how good gueye is for the team

Right. I'll get my crayons for you.

Goodison has/had more capacity than the GTech and they still out performed us. That was my point. Stadium size doesn't ensure success..
Would love to see it in crayon. I didnt say it ensures success but surely its more attractive than playing in small ground.
