Transfer Rumour Liam Delap

Saw a thing saying that Utd are definitely signing him. Think all this is just a case of his agent getting as much dough as possible.

Never thought I'd ever be in a position to say this though, but he would be mad to choose Utd over us 🤷
Tbf, I also read that Branthwaite was joining that lot last year
Absolute career suicide at the moment imo.

If they don’t get taken over soon they’re about to experience a very “Everton 90’s” period.

Nice for us to no longer be the worst run club in the league though.

As many yellow cards as goals this season.
0 goals in his last 7 (5 starts)
2 goals in his las 13 (11 starts)

Half his total for the season came in Ipswich's first 11 games.

Alot of things pointing in the wrong direction by me

maybe the fact they were relegated by february plays a part

the fact he racked up that many goals early doors should indicate how well he’d do in a decent side

Shows how poorly ran Utd are that possibly the worst ran club in the country for the last 10 years is a better option than us

I said something similar a week ago.

He has 12/2 g/a this season. But they came in 11 games.

Thats fine for what it is. But what’s his contribution like in the other 26 games? I’ve only seen him against us and thought he looked poor, but clearly there’s something about him as he got double figures.

Maybe someone else has watched him more and can say he is the genuine article and it’s just Ipswich being crap and not creating chances, I don’t know. But I trust Moyes to have done that research and if he wants him, then I’m happy with that.

That's appealing to sponsors and investors, but I'm not sure their on field performance would inspire me as a player.

….i wouldn’t be so certain about that, they’ll still be a huge draw. I suppose much depends on the competition but I remain convinced we are very much in the mix for Delap.

Or maybe he got found out and defended worked out how to nullify him?
Maybe, but tbh any players without that kind of question mark hanging over them are (at the moment, at least) unlikely to be signing for Everton. Of the players we might conceivably attract, Delap strikes me as a good one. A risk yes, but for a little while yet risk will remain a bedfellow.

I agree. I don't know the lad, but having spent time being ignored by City, he might well want to be the main striker at a club like Everton, rather than just another player at somewhere like Man United or Chelsea. We shall see.

A bit of both. He is a good, hard working all round number nine, who can finish with both feet and is decent in the air, and scores all different types of goal. As Ipswich's confidence got lower, his chances got fewer, and he probably wasn't quite at the level of the beginning of the season. He definitely has all the tools to be a very good player, and there are plenty of £30 million players who don't.

Seems like a sensible lad, speaking to all interested parties and taking his time to make a decision.
He has options. Will be interesting to see what route he takes. I'm sure if he listens to his agent, he'll be on top money sat on a bench at Utd or Chelsea, but if he wants regular football, Everton would be a better choice for his career. Even at Newcastle, he's going to be second fiddle behind Isak.
