Just been messaged that a good friend of mines cousin and son both got hit. Both in hospital both are going to be ok.

To be honest it’s difficult when you open facebook (I know, my mistake for opening that cesspit) and as soon as the news are up the majority of the comments are “wonder where he’s from”, “vote reform”, and “funny” comments about immigrants and skin colour.

It’s absolutely infuriating, and as someone on the left I don’t even know what a realistic solution to stop the deepening of this sentiment is anymore. It feels like it all is out of control and like no rationality is left, and if there is any, it doesn’t work to bridge the divide.

After all is said and done, left or right, it’s the palpable lack of empathy in all these discussions that is scary. There are families, on this occasion, literally next door, who are in a state of panic right now, and about to have their lives changed. My own daughter was going to go down there tonight but fortunately changed her mind at the last minute.

We live in deeply concerning times.

Throw away compassion for whats happened but sustained anger for the "reasons" behind it.

Well not on here. But there will have been certain people's PAs who will have been told to write certain view points the minute they heard about this all for political gain and zero empathy for what's happened.

It looks like there's a few hi viz on the deck there, don't want anyone injured, it's all terrible. If there are emergency workers/authorities hurt and harmed, hopefully it's not life changing. There's a lot of copper vans there. So they've had numbers on hand to corral the crowds.

Rational explanation, the roads were advertised as closed 12-5 for the parade...
In theory it should have been clear enough to go through.. obviously the massive turnout caused multiple delays which meant the crowds hadn't dispersed as planned

Don't accept it was a terrorist as they would not tend to stop. Just someone who has lost his head momentarily before realising the repercussions of his terrible actions. Fingers crossed he's not a Blue for obvious reasons and praying that those affected make a full and speedy recovery

Yep and why decide to use the car at that time in that area, they were never going to be able to get through. A lot of questions which I am sure will be answered over the coming days.
