To be honest it’s difficult when you open facebook (I know, my mistake for opening that cesspit) and as soon as the news are up the majority of the comments are “wonder where he’s from”, “vote reform”, and “funny” comments about immigrants and skin colour.

It’s absolutely infuriating, and as someone on the left I don’t even know what a realistic solution to stop the deepening of this sentiment is anymore. It feels like it all is out of control and like no rationality is left, and if there is any, it doesn’t work to bridge the divide.

After all is said and done, left or right, it’s the palpable lack of empathy in all these discussions that is scary. There are families, on this occasion, literally next door, who are in a state of panic right now, and about to have their lives changed. My own daughter was going to go down there tonight but fortunately changed her mind at the last minute.

We live in deeply concerning times.

Its always been like this, we see it more these days because people have a platform to spout off crap that in the past would have stayed in their tiny little minds instead.

Most people are sound by and large but there will always be a large group of complete knobs.

Surely the point has been proven? At first it was a terrorist attack. Now it’s been announced it was a 53 year old white male it’s not a terrorist attack? It’s absolutely vile that this is the world we live in.

It's partly down to the lies told last year to whip up rioting. Granted such lies had been spouted before re other incidents.

Well not on here. But there will have been certain people's PAs who will have been told to write certain view points the minute they heard about this all for political gain and zero empathy for what's happened.

Don't accept it was a terrorist as they would not tend to stop. Just someone who has lost his head momentarily before realising the repercussions of his terrible actions. Fingers crossed he's not a Blue for obvious reasons and praying that those affected make a full and speedy recovery

Definitely. You'd hope the police would have learnt from that going into this weekend. People have said perhaps his car was already within the road closure zone, in which case it might be hard to stop. They need to lean from this and what they can do to try and prevent it happening going forward.

Amazing how quickly the narrative changes to “guy just reacting to being inconvenienced” once the skin colour is known.

I mean I don't think that's all the information that was out there for people to draw the conclusion.

No alcohol in his system and local are two other factors that have led to that deduction.
