2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

Pretty confident it will go through this. You could tell by the way he played yesterday that he wants to stay and the fee wont be an issue as it was already agreed when they loaned him. Just a matter of coming to an agreement with his wages, length of contract etc.

No brainer this one. Simply had to buy him.

Don’t think the club would have publicly mentioned negotiations if they weren’t all but sewn up.

Welcome back, Charly Boy.
I hope you're right, mate.

Get the deal done, Everton. We need some good news after today.

The 2024/25 English football season ended last Sunday (25), but the market has already started to move. On Monday (26), Everton confirmed that it started negotiations with Flamengo to try to keep Carlos Alcaraz in the squad. The midfielder was loaned by the Rio club in February and has a bond until July, but has not yet reached the contractual goals that would force the English to buy him.

Everton confirms talks for new agreement

In an official statement, the English club made it clear that it wants the Argentine to stay:

- The club continues discussions with Carlos Alcaraz, who arrived at the Blues on loan from Flamengo in February, until the end of the 2024/25 season.

However, the current contract provided for a mandatory purchase clause that was not activated.

Understand the clause of the contract

The agreement between the clubs stipulated that Alcaraz would need to start nine matches as a starter for Everton to be obliged to pay 15 million euros (R$ 98.8 million) to Flamengo. In addition, there was a payment forecast of another 3 million euros (R$ 19.3 million) through additional goals.

As the midfielder acted as a starter in only seven games, the main clause was not fulfilled.

Alcaraz numbers in the season

Carlos Alcaraz participated in 17 games with the Everton shirt. Of this total, he was a starter in seven matches, all for the Premier League. The Argentine midfielder scored two goals - one of them precisely in the final round against Newcastle - and gave three assists.

Flamengo doesn't count on the player for the rest of the season

According to sources linked to the club, Flamengo has no plans to reintegrate the player into the squad. The football department is already working with the possibility of a sale or extension of the loan. Meanwhile, the board remains attentive to the market in order to strengthen the cast for the Club World Cup, which will be played between June and July in the United States.

Next challenge: decision at Maracanã

While defining Alcaraz's future, Flamengo turns its attention to the confrontation against Deportivo Táchira (VEN), for the Copa Libertadores. The game will be this Wednesday (28), at 9:30 pm, at Maracanã, and can guarantee the Red-Black in the round of 16.

No idea what to make of that other than, a) it's all completely true, or b) it's all completely made up.

Possible extension to the loan or renegotiating the transfer implies this is about reducing the amount of money spent in this window to free up cash for other transfers.

Sounds like funds will be tight to do all the business we need to.
