F1 2025 (and other motorsports)

I’m watching the Indy 500 properly for the first time ever. Such a weird race. I don’t really get it at all apart from there being loads of stupid crashes and pit lane carnage.

As for Monaco I basically look at it now as a fun qualifying and then the actual race is just an exhibition event. Given there are 22 races now I don’t massively have a problem with that.

I guess having two really weird races happening on the same weekend is sort of fitting.

Indy 500 is pretty much survive until the final 20-30 laps and then things kicks off.

It’s also mad how old some of the drivers are in the Indy 500. Takuma Sato is 48 and there’s a guy who is 50.

Wonder if Lewis fancies a go in a few years when he leaves F1?

Don't think he's interested enough in racing outside of F1, plus the danger factor is enough to probably put most sane people off in their 40s, especially when you've already completed F1 and got nothing to prove.

We are probably more likely to see Verstappen give it a go if he can win at Le Mans (The triple crown is Monaco, Le Mans, and Indy 500).

True but he could do Le Mans with Ferrari and then Indy with McLaren. I’m being fanciful though and agree with you that Max is way more likely to do it.

Pretty crap ending caused by the two cars in front of the leaders and no blue flag rules in Indycar.

Palou is a generational talent though, dominating Indycar in a way that's not been seen before. He's a level above everyone in the field on road courses and easily good enough for F1 but he's 28 now so it's probably too late unless Cadillac are interested.

Watched the race afterwards, it was a bit of a farce imo, terrible even by modern Monaco standards. The mandatory 2 pit stops made it worse, with the race pace being so slow, and I think the Russell incident was proof of that.

This track either has to be overhauled or ditched.
The pace they were slowing to, and yet still no overtaking could occur, it's not fit for purpose.
Slimmer cars are needed for this track.

Just watched back the Indy 500. Decent race ruined at the end by the back markers. They need to change that towards the end of the race as nothing happened.
