I've always found him to be an "okay" player for us but not the type that would have you on the edge of your seat when breaking away with the ball; it's like you expect him to lose the ball, have a poor shot on goal, or play a bad pass to someone in a better position. He does have a decent "engine" and ran his heart out for us though.

We paid 20m for him, got many years of service, a few very important goals and he always seemed to give his all.

Just like we haven’t offered Doucoure one. Doucoure was given that contract in 2020, if the club felt his salary wasn’t worth the return he’d have been flogged before now, but they chose to keep him and all his mangers with the exception of the scandalously under qualified Lampard have played him whenever he was available.
There’s been plenty of players here in his time earning as much or more and contributed considerably less but got less stick then him.
He's also one of the reasons that goal had any value attached to it in the first place..

Poor footballer but still way better value than Schneiderlin , Klassen, Bolasie and a host of other players I've done my best to forget .
And that statement is why we are just coming out of the hideous mess that we created for ourselves.
That Doucoure was apparently our best paid player tells you everything you need to know about how poorly this club has been run.
Of course it's not his fault and no blame attached to him for taking the money and at least he tried and put in maximum effort in his time ( unlike others ).
However his leaving marks what I hope is a new era of commercial and football sense that can see us take steps to getting back to the top table.
